Delta: A Bump in the Road!
             While last month’s optimism has waned slightly, travel news is still considerably more positive than negative. Yes, “we have taken a step back after taking so many steps forward,” states Richard Fain, Royal Caribbean CEO. “This is simply a bump in the road – the fundamental pathway remains clear. Domestic travel has resumed, cruises are operating globally, and demand is pent-up and strong.” He reports that half of the ships in the RCCL group (Royal Caribbean, Celebrity and Silversea) are now operating with more to launch soon.
             
All major cruise lines report similar data. As many of you have noticed, media advertisements for cruises and tours have significantly increased. Itineraries that have been canceled are now able to be reserved. A perfect example is the Celebrity cruise we featured in a previous newsletter: the 10-Day, Round-Trip New York to Bermuda including Newport, RI, and Charleston, SC. That cruise is widely available once again on Celebrity Summit.
 
Other positive news:
             The Galapagos, a true bucket list destination is featured on many ships including those of Hurtigruten and Celebrity some of which operate year-round.
 
             Bookings to Alaska are booming for 2022 and 2023 report Princess, Royal Caribbean, NCL and Holland America to name a few.
 
             Canada has reopened to American tourists who provide proof of vaccination and a negative PCR test taken within the 72 hours before the trip. Canada is one of the most popular destinations for guided tours which are available through many land tour companies. As we stated last month, we’ll be testing the US-Canadian protocols in September and October, and we’ll report our findings in the November newsletter.
 
           Those of you who receive the AAA “Westways” magazine may have noticed the beautiful cover photo and article about Iceland. This country has become an ever more popular tourist destination, and we have a wonderful group heading to Iceland and Greenland next July. Balconies are now sold-out on this cruise, but we still have space available for Interior, Oceanview and Suite categories. Join Us?
 
           These represent a small sliver of the wide-spread positive direction of the travel industry, and, by extension, the positive direction of many of our lives. Yes, there will be bumps in the road, some more serious than others, but the light at the end of the tunnel that seemed so far away just a few months ago grows ever brighter. We are here to help you navigate through the maze of protocols wherever it is you wish to travel and by any means you prefer.
