Two Man Team Shoot Ducks Unlimited - June 3rd
This shoot is always a crowd favorite as the two shooting partners are working together to hit the clays which is a bit unconventional in sporting clays! Each team shot a total of 150 targets on the Blue Course and then finished off with a 50 clay "flurry" event on the Duck Pond. The weather was great and we had 45 teams.
Ducks Unlimited awarded medals to the winners of the Lewis classes.
Congratulations to Brian Hornnechek and Kelly Charanek who won HOA with a score of 150/201.

Juniors Learn To Shoot - June 4th
|
Instructor Ron and his Junior Shooters !
|
This is an annual FREE event, and was sponsored by these kind donors: Federal Ammunition, Alberta Sporting Clays Assoc., Browning, Silver Willow and our awesome instructors who volunteered their time !
We had a great group of Juniors ranging in ages from 12 - 17 years old. Many of the youth had never shot a shotgun before. Everyone went home with a Browning cap, a certificate and a cap light.
We had good weather and each participant shot about 30 rounds and then enjoyed a BBQ hot dog lunch. The Juniors used a variety of shotguns from 410's, 20 gauge and 12 gauge feather lights. Thank you to Don Terrio who did the safety talk and helped organize the shooting squads.

The HOA winner of this years shoot was
Clint Lariviere with a score of 88 out of 100.
Congratulations Clint!

The Children's Cottage Fundraiser Shoot
"Clays for the Cottage" - June 22
|
This was the tent to house the guests in the middle of the Green Course
This past Thursday saw Silver Willow hosting an amazing event for the Children's Cottage Society of Calgary. The day started with some rain, high winds and cold weather, but it slowly turned around and everyone seemed to enjoy the day. This was one of the largest events ever hosted at the club. The volunteers, staff and board members worked tirelessly to put this wonderful event together and raise funds for the children in need in Calgary. Please look up their website and donate to this worthy organization. Thank you as well to our hard working Marshall's.

The newly built station 5 stand on the Blue. |
New on the Blue
We have recently upgraded to the EZ Pull Target Management system on the Blue Course and added two more clay target machines to each of the 14 stations; now a total of 4 machines at each station. Your options for target presentations and combinations has increased phenomenally!! You can choose to make it as
easy or as
hard as you wish.
In addition, we have also redesigned station #5, raising the shooting platform another 8 feet in the air for a whole new look at the targets.
The red and white tower was moved from the Green Course to the Blue Course this month to prepare for driven pheasant shots ! It will certainly add another level of challenge to the Blue.
|
The tower in it's new location |
We have received great comments from both Members and Non-Members alike on how impressed they are with the new improved Blue Course.
Come out and give it a try for yourself!
