July 22nd 2022

It's been an amazing month! Nothing new there  I guess! LOL!!!

Besides a 40 hour week of keeping the place nice... Every month we have missionaries and pastors staying here at Living Stones Ranch, 15 times a year we host childrens 2 day tent camps with kids from the slums of Belo Horizonte. This year I made 4 trips to the Amazon, drilled two wells, and fixed a ton of stuff on the boat. Ashley even came on one with me! We have had one Super Camp and one more planned in 2 weeks. Now we want to do it 4 x a year! We have 5 "Trails of Wisdom" local childrens out reach day camps here for the kids in the country where we live. We just had one two weeks ago and it was a great succes even the parents enjoyed it! Eventually I beleive this will lead to building a local church here. The men's group is still going on as well.

This is the drone view of the last village we drilled at. Way back in 2019 we started to drill a well here but the gear box blew a gear and shut us down. Now we have a spare for all the major stuff that could break. We finished the well in record time even using all the new techniques we had to learn and practice to meet federal standards. The blue spot is the drilling site. The white rectangle in the river is Liberty our boat. The village stretches even further into the jungle and the well will even serve others across the river I imagine.

Women and children are always welcome to come so the only real requirement is you have to have a vaccine to come to Brazil... and of course a chunk of $change$ to pay for the expenses of the trip!

"Liberty" is here to set the captives free with living water and healing fresh water from the well! Also needs a fresh paint job!

Children of all ages are welcome to join us!

The kids in the interior are so precious and hidden from so many things of the world. Just taking pictures and showing them can entertain them for hours.... Hmm Just like us on our cell phones! Maybe not so different after all!

The local bus/boat just dropped off some families here in the village.

Back to the Ranch....The round table gang is doing well, though so many times some of them have excuses why they can make it. Please pray that God would create a deeper hunger for some of them who look for excuses not to come. A missionary friend shared on this evening a few weeks ago.

Trails of Wisdom

It is a new project we are doing for the massive country side comunity. A small population but very spread out. The kids get Biblical world teaching about various types of jobs, technical and manual labor, etc. Also some radical activities and a team work ropes course activity. We give them some snacks, pray with them, share about how God sees them, and send them home with some donated fruit.

How does a car really work?

Up close and real! Even the parents paid close attention. The 4-year-old in my arms was a bit of a challenge but he hung on till the end of the day!

The high tower climb and release!

Talk about teaching courage and confidence in others!

Poisen insects and the good critters that eat them.

When you live in the Atlantic Jungle it's good to know there are certain critters you might not like but they are definitly your friend and you shouldn't kill them! Especially when they eat the deadly insects that shouldnt be in your home.  Save the lizards!

I am David, I am Four and I loved Trails of Wisdom!!

From four to fourteen the kids all had a great time and loved the work we did with them! From buggies to bugs and bridges! Best of all They even heard about Jesus!

First time ever in this community and by the grace of God it was a great success!

Lamalma / Souls of Clay Super Camp

The kids show up just before dark, around 5:30, for a packed weekend.

Tears of Joy and Sadness

Every time one of these groups of kids come to the Ranch, I hear the heartbreaking stories of the life some of these kids live. Sexual abuse, physical abuse, verbal abuse, hunger, no running water all are common stories of the children here. We have had kids here under 15 who are prostitutes, mothers, drug dealers, drug users and a 14-year-old mom who shot her cheating boyfriend 5 x point blank when he stepped in the door... Kids who don't have a mirror in their house, a shower or even running water and didn’t know how to turn on a water faucet! Never seen stars at night, never seen clear water in a creek... Never seen a creek! One kid colored a cow green because he had never seen one and didn't know what color it was in real life. Another said she never smelled such fresh air. IT'S SO QUITE OUT HERE! Adults tell us they can see the Love of God just looking at the way the Ranch is taken care of but above all they feel the tangible presence of God in this place. The missionaries who stay here are often sad they can't come back sooner or stay long enough when they do!

So, when we see these kids here smiling, playing, being marveled that their hands are clean, no one screaming at them, and eating 4 plates of spaghetti for dinner because they aren’t sure if there is going to be another meal tomorrow... or a 7-year-old bagging up 4 sacks of tangerines because the dad shyly asked if there was more... because they had no food at home. One girl’s dream was just to ride a horse and we made it happen!

I don't know whether to laugh or cry! But I mostly cry... I KARE.

Kids At Risk Expeditions

We want to do these camps 4 times a year and we need sponsors for 5000 USD for each camp.

The 15 weekend tent camps are about 1700 each

The Trails of Wisdom day camps cost 1200 each.

A big Brazilian breakfast awaits them in the morning.

It was also served with fruit and ham and cheese sandwiches, coffee, milk and hot chocolate!

We had the same brother from the band that played for the fireman here for the kids and they loved the worship!

Four Services

Preaching the word was not only in our actions and activities but also in the morning devotions and evening services!

Alpha team at the "Crater Circuit"

It's built on and over over a big hole! We teamed the kids up and set out for the comptition for the best team. Based on lots of character issues and also a bit of cooperation and talent! Every 5 children requires 2, 24 hour supervisors.

The Broken Bridge Challenge.

The kids did really good on the obstacle courses but when it came to the operation of cooperation it was a whole different story! But they learned a lot of new things! In the evenings there was plenty of free time for games as well.
