Cryo-EM Screening and Data Collection - Webinar
On December 9th we participated in a Thermo Fisher Scientific Ask The Expert webinar on the topic of enhanced automation for high throughput cryo-EM screening and data collection for drug design. This webinar features recent advances in cryo-EM automation for increased productivity to provide structural insights for your drug discovery pipeline.

This is your opportunity to learn how current state of the art cryo-EM workflow automations compares to X-ray crystallography in terms throughput and resolution.
Cryo-EM Innovations
During the webinar we discussed several of our innovations for making your cryo-EM workflow more efficient. These included:
Article - Using Googles AI To Predict Structures
Read an article at Nature concerning Googles DeepMind program called AlphaFold and how it "outperformed around 100 other teams in a biennial protein-structure prediction challenge called CASP, short for Critical Assessment of Structure Prediction."

According to the article, this represents a "gargantuan leap in solving one of biology’s grandest challenges — determining a protein’s 3D shape from its amino-acid sequence."

Upcoming Events
At MiTeGen, we sponsor numerous events, conferences, workshops and symposiums throughout the year. We believe in supporting researchers and our industry. Listed below are two upcoming events you might find interesting.
CCP4 Study Weekend 2021 will be virtual this year and held January 5th to the 8th. The main topic this year is Integrating Structural Biology.

Also occurring as part of the study weekend is the Diamond Light Source MX User meeting.
The 8th BioXFEL Conference will be virtual this year and held February 2nd to 4th. It brings together experts in a variety of fields (structural biology, physics, biochemistry, and more) to discuss the most recent advances in structural biology using X-ray Free Electron Lasers (XFELs).
New Innovations For Serial Crystallography
We have been developing several new products to enable cutting-edge serial crystallography techniques at synchrotrons and XFELs.

This includes a SSRL high-density grid system designed for efficient crystallographic data collection from multiple crystals. The system was developed for use with the SSRL robot for room temperature and cryogenic X-ray diffraction data collection.
