Temperance

Christians do not indulge our desires. Indulgence makes us animals. Christians do not deny their desires. Denial makes us robots. Christians temper their desire. Temperance makes us human.

Just like tempered glass is better than untempered glass; tempered steel better than untempered steel; tempered chocolate better than untempered chocolate; a tempered you is a better you than an untempered you.

Temperance is one of the seven heavenly virtues, and it is in short supply on earth. Our Youth have considered these virtues on Sunday evening, and our men have done the same during our Men’s Academy, which BTW, is next Tuesday, October 21, 7:30 a.m. Breakfast provided.

Join us to learn about how to protect the children in our church as well as in our community! This training is mandatory for any new volunteers looking to serve in our Children’s Ministry Program. 

Mom's Gathering

Ministry Milestones

November 2, 9, 16. 10:20–11:00 a.m.

Twice a year, we celebrate three "Ministry Milestones": First Communion for grades 3-5; Confirmation for grades 6 and above; and Membership for adults. Preparatory classes for each of these milestones are held between the services on November 2, 9, and 16. We will celebrate these milestones on Christ the King Sunday (November 23) when the Bishop visits.

Christ the King seeks a full-time Director of Operations with senior administrative church or non-profit experience to provide leadership for administrative, personnel, staff management, facilities, and financial oversight functions. Excellent organizational skills with strong leadership and systems thinking essential. See position description here.

Below are prayer requests and upcoming outreach opportunities for us to love our neighbors.

Litter-Free Alexandria

November 8. 8:00-9:00 a.m.

Give a gift to our neighbors near the church and help make our city cleaner. Join other  CtK members in picking up trash in our neighborhood. Bring work gloves. CtK will supply trash bags and grabber tools. Children accompanied by parents are welcome. Questions? Contact Eric Keber.

International Ministry Partners

Please join me in praying for our international Mission Partners (Getachew, Jack and Kathy):

• For the work of current staff in field ministry, administration, and communication.
• Pray for short- and long-term missionaries to join us, especially people with skills in civil engineering, nursing and other medical disciplines, discipleship, mentoring of pastoral leaders, and administration.
• Pray for the quick approval of administrative documents.
• Pray for the leaders of middle eastern nations to view gospel efforts favorably and allow the implementation of ecumenical projects.
