News and events for Dec. 3-7, 2018
Dear Chaparral Families,

As 2018 comes to a close, we would like to acknowledge all of the hard work our parent volunteers do for the teachers, students, staff, and PFC. Chaparral relies on your time, dedication, talent, and generosity every day and we are grateful to work with you and be part of this amazing community. A special thank you to all of the unsung heroes: the spouses/partners of our parent volunteers who hold down the fort at home, support our volunteering initiatives, and enable us to give our time to Chaparral…we couldn’t do it without you.

November came and went in a blur!

PFC Online Auction: Now Accepting Items!
The 12th Annual PFC Online Auction is just over three months away, March 8-17, 2019! We need help from our generous Chaparral community to secure amazing donations. The success of our auction is directly correlated to the strength of our donations!
How can you help?
Request A Donation
While you are preparing for the holiday season, please ask your favorite hair or nail salon, restaurant, gym, kids' play sources and other professional service providers for a donation. In return for their generous donation they will receive the following acknowledgements:

  1. Each donor has the marketing benefit of a direct link to their website through their graphic or image via our online auction site Bidding for Good.
  2. All participating local businesses also will be included in a full-page "Thank You" Ad in The Acorn, the PFC website and Cub Corner. Deadline to be included in this ad is March 1.
Download the Auction Donor Form , although many businesses don't require it. You can always ask for a donation and follow up with the form later, if necessary.

Re-Gift Those Gift Cards
Did you get gift cards to a restaurant or store that you won't use? Consider donating a few of those gift cards left over after the holidays to the auction. They are an easy way to donate, and really add up!
Donations can be dropped off in the PFC or Main Office, or contact Auction Chair, Allyson Watson at
5th Grade Honors Info Night on Tuesday
Attention 5th grade families , LVUSD is excited to invite you to our 5th Grade Parent Honors Information Night on Tuesday, December 4, at 6 p.m., at the Calabasas High School Performing Arts and Education Center.

Teachers, administrators, and counselors will be on hand to discuss LVUSD’s middle school honors program. Some of the topics will include entrance criteria, timeline, and “mythbusting” some of the fallacies surrounding our language arts and history-social science courses.

In addition, there will be an interactive question and answer discussion with a panel of teachers, administrators, and counselors from all three middle schools. We look forward to providing you with information designed to support your child’s transition to middle school.
How can you help? - LV Fire Relief
If you are looking for a way to help families who were impacted by the Woolsey Fire please go to  to help with monetary donations. 100% of all donations received will go directly to the affected families. LVFR was started by parents in our district who teamed up with the YMCA to help make an instant 501(c)3! Therefore, all donations are tax-deductible and families will not be taxed on the contributions they receive. The school district is also in support of LVFR. At this time the donation center is currently in need of luggage and medium or large storage bins with lids. Due to the overwhelming response, they can no longer accept clothing and gift cards. Even if you cannot help financially, you can help by telling all your friends and families from out of the area that  is the best place to donate at.

Keep your kitchen clean, give your stove a break and and join your fellow Cubs at The Stand in Calabasas on Thursday, Dec. 13. The Stand will donate 20% back to our school when you mention Chaparral at the time of purchase.
