June Principal's Message: Thank You for a Wonderful School Year!
Well—we made it!  Another incredible year is coming to a close.

As Henry L. Doherty said, “Be a student as long as you still have something to learn, and this will mean all your life.” Every experience in life will teach you something. You just need to keep an open mind and an open heart to see what lessons the world has to offer.

Unfortunately, the beginning of this year brought challenges and in turn, gave us opportunities to learn a variety of lessons. As a community, we endured difficulties and heartbreak with the Woolsey fire and then a very rainy winter. The lesson of giving selflessly to others in need was modeled many times this year. I was so proud of our own C.U.B.S. who worked tirelessly to support the families affected.

2019 Variety Show: Thank you students, volunteers & teachers!
The Chaparral Variety Show “The British Invasion” was a smashing success, combining fun music, great performances, and hilarious skits with record-breaking attendance! A huge THANK YOU to chairs Billy Cooper and Meredith Sesser for their hours of hard work, dedication and sacrifice. The show was such a great experience for the kids, and everyone enjoyed watching them shine on stage. Thank you to our families and community for coming out and supporting the longest running tradition at Chaparral.

And that’s a wrap!
LAST Call for Lost and Found!
Items in the lost and found will be donated to either homeless families in local districts or, in the case of lunch items, to family shelters and Skid Row.
Students NOT Returning to Chaparral
Chaparral is in the process of preparing for next year’s classes. Correct enrollment figures are very important as they predict how many teachers we will need for each grade level. Please contact the office and let us know if you are NOT planning to return to Chaparral.
Pick Up Any Medications at Chaparral
ANY MEDICATION AT SCHOOL MUST BE PICKED UP NO LATER THAN JUNE 12 OR IT WILL BE DISPOSED. Please plan to pick up your child's medication on or before the last day of school.

FOR MEDICATION AT SCHOOL IN THE 2019-2020 SCHOOL YEAR, a Medication Authorization from your doctor will be needed. Forms are available in the Health Office. No medication will be administered until this form is received by the Health Clerk—this includes Epipens and Inhalers, as well as allergy medication, or any over the counter pain relievers, etc. Contact Bennah Christl with questions.
Order School Supplies for Next Year!
The PFC has once again partnered with SchoolKidz, Inc., to provide a convenient way for parents to order next year's school supplies online, with home delivery before school starts. The deadline to order is Friday, June 14. Email with any questions.

Applications Accepted for Lunch Program
Are you aware that your family may qualify for the National School Lunch Program? USDA requires all families interested in participating in the meal program to file an application with the Department of Child Nutrition.

Factors considered in the application process are the household size and total household income. The total household income is the income each household member received in the prior month before taxes. The information you give will be used to determine or prove your child’s eligibility for free or reduced-price meals. This information may also be used for other state or federally funded school benefits such as Title I funds.

It is important that your student receives the benefits they are entitled to. You may not even realize your child may be eligible. Please note that this application and status are completely confidential . Applications must be resubmitted annually. This year the process has been made easier through an online link:
