NO SCHOOL: MONDAY, MARCH 11
March Principal's Message

Dear Parents,
As March begins, I am reminded of an old Irish proverb that states, The future is not set, there is no fate but what we make for ourselves. For Chaparral’s students, the future is just beginning, it is not set. This month we will continue to work together to develop important learning skills where the student becomes the teacher and is in charge of their learning. In this message, there are examples of some activities your children have or will participate in this month that supports our students in becoming independent learners. I know with our partnership and support as a unified community, their future will be bright.

MEET OUR NEW MUSIC TEACHER!

My name is Beverly Chaffee and I am thrilled to be the new music teacher here at Chaparral. I taught elementary music in Orange County for many years before my husband and I retired to Thousand Oaks.

I have many ties to the Calabasas community. Recently, I was a contract music teacher at Bay Laurel where my daughter is a 3rd grade teacher and where my 2 grandsons attend. I also have a son who lives in San Mateo who works for ROBLOX.
I’m excited to be here at Chaparral.  Next week I will begin teaching your students and together we will begin making great music! Students will be learning how to read music, play rhythm games, sing songs, play instruments and move to the music! I hope to develop a program that is fun, follows the state standards and continues to grow from year to year.
SCHEDULE CHANGES: KINDER GATE AND LIBRARY
The Principal and PFC work closely together to meet the needs of Chaparral. In an effort to help parents and also give TK and Kinder an easier transition, Coach Felicity will be opening the Kindergarten yard at 7:30 a.m. beginning Tuesday, March 12th. In addition, we will also be opening the Library at 7:30 a.m. Mrs. Davis will be there to supervise students who may just want to relax in a cozy corner and read before starting the busy day. Exciting news!
