VOTE MARCH 3RD!
LVUSD BOND MEASURE V TO IMPROVE & UPDATE FACILITIES

Chaparral Phone & Text Community Night, January 21st
*Volunteers Needed from 5-8 pm @ the Keller Williams Office of Calabasas. 23975 Park Sorrento, Unit 110*

Did you know that LVUSD's per pupil state funding is in the bottom 15% of all districts in California? This is because of a change in the funding allocation from the State in 2013 when California implemented a new policy to direct extra funding to areas of “high need” (economically disadvantaged, English learners or foster youth).

LVUSD is not considered “high need,” but we do need our community’s support!

With our district’s aging facilities, our schools require significant improvements that the State of California will not fund . Thus we must rely on raising local funds through this Bond.

This measure will help address our most time-sensitive safety, security, and educational facility needs, including:

  • Improving instructional technology to keep classrooms up to date.
  • Upgrading science and engineering labs and career technical education facilities.
  • Strengthening school safety, upgrading fire and disaster preparedness and emergency response systems.
  • Repairing and replacing deteriorating roofs, plumbing, heating/air conditioning systems.

HOW YOU CAN HELP:
  1. VOTE: On or before March 3rd
  2. Get your friends to VOTE (Parents are historically a low turn out voting population)
  3. Come phone bank with us January 21st 5-8 pm at Keller Williams Calabasas, 23975 Park Sorrento, Unit 110)
  4. Talk to your neighbors and friends about the importance of this Bond
  5. Join the committee. Contact one of the people below:

Felice Becker and Fawn Binford from the Chaparral community have stepped up to help the Bond campaign and educate our community on its importance. You may contact them or the Co-Chairs of the campaign, Megan Glynn or Jill Gaines with any questions or to get involved or visit YesforLasVirgenesSchools.com.

We Need You!
The Chaparral PFC is in need of volunteers from some of our younger grades! As families with older children graduate out, volunteer positions and committees must be replenished by new parents. If you are a parent with TK/K, 1st, 2nd, 3rd grade kids please reach out to chaparralpfc@gmail.com and ask how you can help. Our school can only be as strong and vibrant as our parent community.
Every upcoming event or fundraiser needs additional help:
Online Auction
The Family Hoedown
Family Sports Day
Farmer's Market
Please get involved!
The 13th Annual PFC Online Auction is just around the corner: February 23-March 1, 2020! This is our second biggest fundraiser of the year. We need help from our generous Chaparral community to secure amazing donations. The success of our auction is directly correlated to the strength of our donations.
"How can I help?"
We're so glad you asked!:
Request A Donation
While you are out and about, please ask your favorite hair or nail salon, restaurant, gym, kids' play sources and other professional service providers for a donation. In return for their generous donation they will receive the following acknowledgements:

  1. Each donor has the marketing benefit of a direct link to their website through their graphic or image via our online auction site Bidding for Good.
  2. All participating local businesses also will be included in a full-page "Thank You" Ad in The Acorn, the PFC website and Cub Corner. Deadline to be included in the Ad is February 14.
  3. Other benefits will be provided for donations with a value over $250

Donations can be dropped off in the PFC or Main Office, or contact Auction Chair, Allyson Watson.
Download the Auction Donor Form here ( although many businesses don't require it). You can always ask for a donation and follow up with the form later, if necessary.

Re-Gift Those Gift Cards
Do you have gift cards to a restaurant or store that you won't use? Consider donating a few of those gift cards to the auction. They are an easy way to donate, and really add up!

Host A Party
The holidays may be over, but the parties are just getting started! Grab some friends and start thinking about hosting a party. Hosted parties are a fun way to raise money for Chaparral. Parties can be for kids or adults and as simple or elaborate as you like. Popular themes include: game truck, swimming, popsicles in the park, sports, baking, bowling, moms night out, dads night out, and parent theme parties.
E-mail your party details (theme, date, time, hosts & description) to  chapauction@gmail.com   on or before February 20 .
