NO SCHOOL Monday, March 16th - Friday, March 27th
Hello C.U.B.S.,

Thank you so much for your thoughtful partnership and adaptability as we continue on this journey together. We are here with ongoing and steady support, just from a distance.

Hopefully, you read Dr. Stepenosky’s email that was sent out on Friday. He made the difficult decision in an abundance of caution, and with concern for the health and well-being of our students, staff, and our entire broader community,  LVUSD will close our school facilities for a minimum of two weeks beginning Monday, March 16th and lasting through March 27th.

As had already been communicated, distance activities for students will begin on Wednesday, March 18th. Chaparral teachers used their classroom time with students today to discuss in a grade-level appropriate way how the classroom community will connect with and engage together online during this dismissal. Additionally, some teachers have organized paper resources for your child to take home in their folders and backpacks today. More information will come early next week. Many of our teachers will be using digital resources such as SeeSaw, Google Classroom, Google Meets, and/or Zoom as a platform for class communication.

I realize that coping with the current situation can be difficult for students and yourselves. Please do not hesitate to reach out if you need support. Additional resources can be found below.

“You must always remember this: Have courage, and be kind. Every time we choose courage, we make everyone around us a little better and the world a little braver. And our world could stand to be a little kinder and a little braver.” ~ Brittany Candau

Please take care. We hope that you and your family continue to be well.

Sincerely,
Stephanie Brazell

Finding Calm: Emotional Health
A Message From Ms. Jameson, Our Counselor
I know this is a challenging time, and some anxiety might be showing up for us, our students, and their families. Please remember that I am here should you or your students need to talk to someone. Parents, when you speak with your students about the possibilities of extended closure, remember that if you stay calm, the kids will stay calm as well. My email is:  [email protected] .

Here are a couple of resources that can help students (and adults) cope with anxiety and feel calmer:
The Community 360 Counseling Center staff will be offering virtual online counseling appointments to staff, parents and students throughout our dismissal period. You may book a 20 minute appointment through the following link:   Community360.me/Appointments .
