Cuba is enduring a cycle of suffering not seen since the “Special Period” in the 1990s.

Tightened U.S. sanctions and travel restrictions have choked off the economy, leaving the island with virtually no fuel and a failing power grid. Hospitals are fighting to keep equipment running, pharmacy shelves are empty, and food is increasingly scarce. This is the grim reality of life in Cuba now.

Since 2012, Rainbow World Fund (RWF) has stood in solidarity with the Cuban people, delivering vital aid and hope.

Today, we are working with our long-term local partners to ensure aid reaches the island’s most vulnerable communities -- children, seniors, and people with HIV -- in Havana, Matanzas, Santiago de Cuba, and Trinidad.

Here is how we are helping:

1. Nutrition for Individuals and Families Living with HIV:

We are helping individuals and families living with HIV by delivering tailored "survival kits"—packed with vital protein, milk, and hygiene supplies.

2. Nutrition for Seniors:

Many elders in Cuba are left to fend for themselves. Through our Community Table Program, we are providing hot meals and groceries to seniors aged 75 and older, working with local food kitchens and churches to ensure that seniors, particularly those living alone, receive consistent nutrition.

3. Re-establishing support for children and teenagers affected by HIV: We are funding in-person gatherings this summer, offering a safe space for peer connection, education on HIV management, and providing nutritious meals and emotional support to ensure they know they are not alone.

4. Medical Aid for children, seniors, and people living with HIV. We are delivering medicines and medical supplies (painkillers, antibiotics, vitamins, baby formula, hygiene products,...) to the most vulnerable Cubans.

Celebrate Pride with us! RWF's Rainbow Bus will be parked in San Francisco's Civic Center at the Pride Festival. The bus's interior lounge will be open. Stop by to learn about our work and to pick up a rainbow wristband, flag, or handkerchief. 

Volunteer Opportunities:

1. Join us on Thursday, June 25, from 6-10 pm at the California Academy of Science LGBTQ+ Pride Party in Golden Gate Park. Help at our information table.

1. Volunteer: We are seeking volunteers to serve as hosts on the Rainbow Bus and help at our information table on Saturday, June 27, and Sunday, June 28. Shifts run 90 minutes to 2 hours, starting from 11 am to 6 pm.
