We hope your new year is off to a great start. Winter has settled in quite well, but the cold temperatures won’t last forever. The Township has been busy with our Road District doing everything in their power to maintain the safety of our thoroughfares and they have done an admirable job. Passport services remain a hot topic as international travel plans pick up interest. Make sure to schedule an appointment well in advance of your planned travels and we are happy to help facilitate the process.
We would like to inform you of Lake County's Open Burning Restrictions in unincorporated Lake County that go into effect later this year. We are aware these new restrictions may work for some and may not be viewed favorably by many. Please review the new restrictions that go into effect on June 1, 2022, if burning is part of your normal routine.
February is Black History Month and I always appreciate getting a chance to learn a little more about an important person in history. I recently had the opportunity to learn more about Carter G. Woodson, who launched Negro History Week back in the second week of February 1926. His impressive lifetime of accomplishments can be read here: Carter G. Woodson | NAACP.
It was my pleasure to attend a recent Village of Lake Barrington meeting and I plan on attending various other Village meetings within Cuba Township with the objective of being as collaborative as possible with each municipality. Whether it involves sharing of resources, being smart with our mutual taxpayers’ dollars or planning joint events for our residents, we are open to fresh ideas on engaging the community. That’s a wrap for this month and we will visit with you again soon.
Sincerely,
Chris Karam
