We are getting a jumpstart on the July newsletter because we have a few important reminders for you ahead of the beginning of next month. First and foremost, next Tuesday, June 28, is primary voting day. You may still vote early the next three days at the Village of Lake Barrington; Thursday and Friday from 9 AM to 5 PM or Saturday, June 25, from 9:00 AM to 2:00 PM. If you want to see your ballot in advance, visit Lake County Voter Power.
If you plan on voting on election day, double-check your polling location because it may differ from previous elections. The Cuba Township Road District is hosting residents again this election year as a polling location. For more information, please visit Lake County Voter Power.
My personal favorite holiday in Barrington is July 4. I greatly appreciate a community that turns out to support our country’s independence and those who sacrifice so much to ensure our freedoms. Freedom isn’t free. We are doing our part on Saturday, July 2, at 7:30 AM. We are co-hosts of the Land We Love Run 5k/10k race through Barrington Hills. You still have time to register for the Land We Love Run, so you can enjoy a day that is sure to pay tribute to our great country, exercise your body and prepare yourself for the weekend festivities. You are welcome to run, walk, volunteer, donate, or simply celebrate the weekend with your neighbors. All monetary proceeds from the race will be donated to Folds of Honor. Folds of Honor provides scholarships to spouses and children of America’s fallen and disabled service members.
We encourage you to bring food donations and grocery store gift cards of $25 or less to support the Cuba Township food pantry. It is a challenging time for many residents facing soaring food prices, so your support is greatly appreciated. We also have a Reuse A Shoe bin for your old used shoes. Late last year, we partnered with SWALCO to recycle old shoes or dispose of them in an environmentally friendly manner.
This will be a true community event for everyone, and we look forward to seeing you next weekend.
All the best,
Chris Karam
