Hello again from Cuba Township. What a tremendous fall we have had! The leaves are falling later this year and it’s hard to believe we are approaching the holiday season once again. The giving season is well underway with our food pantry receiving donations from our generous citizens. We are grateful and thankful to the Barrington Area Chamber of Commerce, Barrington Breakfast Rotary Club, Kids Feeding Kids and Countryside Cares Volunteer Club "We scare hunger" food drive, Barrington 220 Educational Foundation, Barrington Area Ministerial Association, and Barrington Bank and Trust for their food donations and monetary support. We also recently welcomed members of the Barrington Youth Advisory Council to our food pantry after their annual food drive culminated in carloads full of grocery bags being delivered last Saturday. Those Council members also dedicated their time to sorting, stocking, and shelving hundreds of bags of food. Having spent the afternoon with them, I can tell you Barrington has a bright future.
We have a few opportunities to keep the giving season momentum going and you will notice a few bins near the Township office to donate and discard appropriately old shoes and textiles. If you have anything to donate, please consider our facility this month and next.
Our Cuba Township team has some heavy hearts this month. Three of us lost a parent over the last few weeks and each of us strives to keep their memories eternal. Let us all keep a watchful eye out for our neighbors and loved ones.
Lastly and very importantly, we salute all of our veterans. Please join us in celebrating their service on Veterans Day this November 11th. Thank you to all of those who helped preserve our republic and her freedoms.
On behalf of our entire Cuba Township team, we wish you and yours a Happy Thanksgiving.
Sincerely,
Chris Karam

Dear friends,
It has been a pleasure serving you for the past 31 years, first as Clerk and now as Assessor. I worked hard to effect many changes in how Lake County deals with property tax assessments, ensuring the assessment process is fair and equitable to all residents.
Would you please join me in welcoming Nicole Knapik as your new Cuba Township Assessor? She has been working very hard to learn the property tax system.
Thank you,
Rebecca M. Tonigan, CIAO
