Hello Cuba Township Residents,
It’s time to vote! What a great time to exercise your rights and a moment we should all cherish regardless of the outcome. Please visit Lake County Clerk’s Voter Power website to get all the information necessary on your polling location and even generate a sample ballot before you show up to vote. Next week is not only the time to exercise your voting rights, but also thank those who served our country helping defend those rights. It is Veteran’s Day on Friday, November 11th so please say a big THANK YOU to those who have served our country so admirably.
We would like to thank two organizations for their incredible generosity during this challenging inflationary time, especially when it comes to food. We are expecting very high winter heating costs and the monetary decision for many this winter will involve deciding whether to eat or heat their home. We recently received two much-needed large food pantry donations from food drives conducted by Countryside Elementary and from the Barrington Youth Advisory Council.
Special thanks to the following community partners:
- Parents and organizers of the Barrington Countryside Cares and Kids Feeding Kids committees for organizing an outstanding "We Scare Hunger" food drive.
- Jack Keenan and the Cuba Township student members of the Barrington Area Community Foundation Youth Advisory Council for organizing the "Halloween Food Drive."
Check out our Facebook page to view photos of the organizers, participating students, and the incredible donation of goods for our food pantry. We have some extraordinary youth volunteers in Cuba Township, and we are grateful for your support. It is making a difference.
The Cuba Township Road District kicks off its Firewood Friday program on Friday, November 4. If you have a tag from previous years, you're set for pick-up. If you are new to the program, please contact the Road District at 847-381-7793 to get a firewood tag number.
Lastly, it is a time of gratitude and thanks as we kick off the holiday season. These food drives were organized by the future leaders of our community and embody everything inherently good about the Thanksgiving season. Be good to one another, embrace the family gatherings and reach out to those in need. Happy Thanksgiving!
With gratitude,
Chris
