Happy Fall Everyone,
We first would like to acknowledge the incredible damage levied by Hurricane Ian. I know many Cuba Township residents spend considerable time and treasure in southwest Florida and the videos emanating from down south are truly heartbreaking. Godspeed to those who are assisting with saving lives, restoring power, and the inevitable rebuilding process moving forward.
We were very fortunate to begin the autumn season with a glorious day for our annual Fall Festival. Several hundred were in attendance once again and it is always special to bring the community together for an afternoon to socialize, connect, sing, eat and enjoy the sunshine. Many thanks to our sponsors for supporting our face painting, petting zoo, balloon, and pumpkin patch stations. Pictures from the festival may be viewed here. We are already looking forward to next year’s event.
The Fall Festival is a good kickoff for our series of upcoming events. On October 22, we will be hosting another Shred Event at the Road District’s blue farmhouse. The Shred truck will be available from 8:30 am – 11:30 am that morning, but usually fills up quickly.
The Road District is also planning its annual brush pick up the week of October 24. Please have your stacked pile of brush placed by the street no later than 7:00 am on Monday, October 24, and please be patient as the Road District makes its way through the entire township.
A special thank you to the Barrington Area Library for their recent fundraising efforts supporting Cuba Cares and the food pantry. We are blessed to be the benefactor of meeting your Summer Reading Club benchmarks.
It is pumpkin season, and you may not know you could compost your pumpkins with Lakeshore Recycling Services (“LRS”). You may bring your pumpkins to the LRS location in Wauconda beginning November 1. Below are further details about pumpkin recycling, a breakfast with local elected officials, the Road District events mentioned above, and more.
Have a safe and Happy Halloween!
Thanks,
Chris
