National Groundwater Awareness Week
In observance of National Groundwater Awareness Week, the Lake County Health Department is offering a reduced well water testing fee for homeowners who use well water as their primary source of drinking water. Between March 10 and March 21, 2025 the normal $25.00 fee for testing bacteria and nitrates will be reduced to $20.00
Cuba Township received a supply of sterile bottles and sampling instructions from the Lake County Health Department. Interested residents are encouraged to pick up bottles and instructions at our office, 28000 W Cuba Road in Barrington, between 9 AM and 4 PM, Monday - Friday.
All collected water samples must be brought to the Lake County Central Permit Facility, 500 W Winchester Road in Libertyville, between 8:00 AM and 3:30 PM, Monday through Thursday. Water sample results are available in approximately three business days.
Residents can also pay $69.00 to have a Lake County Health Department staff member visit their home to collect the sample, inspect the well, and provide lab analyses for bacteria and nitrates. Contact the Lake County Health Department's Water Wells program at (847) 377-8020 or healthEHS@lakecountyil.gov.
