"It brought me to tears"
"The most beautiful - moving - production I've seen"

So said audience members watching WONDERMENT at the Phillips Center last Wednesday and Thursday and the Mozart/Bernstein Suite at Holy Trinity Church this past Sunday.  Huge audiences and great conversation following the performances.

If you missed these performances ... it isn't too late!

Join us for a talk back following the performance.

Such an amazing trip!  Thanks to Randy Batista and Bulla Cubana who helped to generate funds for this adventure and Nancy Reyes who made sure everything ran smoothly for the Company.  Performances went beautifully - and we've been invited for the next Festival in 2020!

Below - photo highlights of the trip.  Performance pictures by one of Cuba's top dance photographers - Nancy Reyes - DANB dancer Jessie Dominguez mother!

Love the buildings and the color - look behind Gretel and Fhilipe.

We all had our badges - artists, choreographers, composer, Artistic Director Kim Tuttle, Executive Director Lee May, special guests.

Three theaters, classes with the National Ballet and many many performances!

DANB dancers with other professionals after daily class at National Ballet of Cuba school.  Look for Ashley, Roberto, Carla and Gretel on this particular day.
No air conditioning, but the wide open windows and doors, plus a great breeze, made it perfect.

DANB's Gretel Batista at Gran Teatro de la Habana.  The last time Ms. Batista performed on this stage was at age 8.  DANB Conductor in Residence Maestro Raymond Chobaz took the opportunity to set up meetings with the National Ballet's Conductor - working toward exchanges.

Gretel Batista and Sergii Sydorskyi following a performance of La Bayadere at the Gran Teatro.  They were the only American dancers in an all Cuban program and applauded wildly.   We were so pleased for them and so proud.

Check out the Bayadere album on DANB's Facebook page.  Some exquisite photos by Nancy Reyes.

Carla Amancio and Andre Valladon opened the program at Teatro Mella - the first of four works DANB performed this evening!  This work by choreographer Cristina Helena was very much appreciated.  Cuban audiences are loud and wildly enthusiastic.  We loved it!

Third on the program, Kim Tuttle's River of Belief performed by Gretel Batista and   Fhilipe Teixeira.   The audience LOVED them!

Fhilipe had a short break and then performed Heat with Carla Amancio.   This work by Cristina Helena was a crowd favorite.  By now this dance audience looked forward to performances by our dancers.  The finale of the program was Latin American Symphonette and featured all of the dancers that made this trip; Carla Amancio, Gretel Batista, Ashley Brooke Lunn, Sergii Sydorskyi, Fhilipe Teixeira, Andre Valladon and Roberto Vega.

Waving good-bye ... and looking forward to Festival 2020!
