On July 28, the Ontario International Airport Authority (OIAA) Board of Commissioners approved a new Use and Lease Agreement (ULA) that positions ONT for continued growth and long-term sustainability.
The new ULA provides greater transparency in how funds are used at ONT and locks in 75% of ground transportation revenue for participating airlines. For OIAA, it allows added flexibility to advance needed capital projects in a timely and cost-effective manner.
The agreement takes effect immediately. For the full release, click here.
In other news, ONT recorded its highest June passenger total ever with more than 659,000 travelers while also setting a new single-month record for international passengers hitting 47,504. The surge in international passengers was due in part to the start of service by Taiwan-based STARLUX Airlines which operates four roundtrip flights a week between ONT and Taipei, Taiwan (TPE).
Ontario officials also reported more than 3.3 million passengers during the first half of the year, 0.9% more than the same period last year. Domestic passenger volume rose by 0.8% to 3.1 million and the number of international travelers increased by 2% to nearly 233,000.
Finally, as part of Disability Pride Month, ONT hosted a special event on Thursday, July 24 commemorating the 35th Anniversary of the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA). The celebration highlighted the law’s transformative impact on air travel and ONT’s ongoing efforts to create a more inclusive and accessible experience for all passengers.
Following are some of the key ADA-driven improvements at ONT:
- ADA-compliant restrooms
- Accessible parking and shuttle services
- Wheelchair assistance through our airline partners
- Visual paging displays and assistive listening systems
- Service animal relief areas
- Clear signage and elevators throughout every terminal
