Culligan City of Palms Classic secures 5-year extension with Suncoast Credit Union Arena
After a successful first year at the brand new Suncoast Credit Union Arena, Culligan City of Palms Classic has signed a new contract with Florida SouthWestern State College to host the nation's premiere boys' high school tournament for another five years. Tickets are on sale now for the respected winter tradition, which runs  Dec. 18 to 23 for its 45th year, at  cityofpalmsclassic.com/tickets .

"The continued success of the tournament is a reflection of the local community's pride in this hometown commitment. When it was named Edison Community College, FSW hosted the Classic from 1973-83 and then again in 1990 and 1993. We remain extremely grateful to Bishop Verot for growing the tournament for more than two decades. It's safe to say that basketball teams and fans all around the country think of exceptional basketball when they think of Fort Myers" said Culligan City of Palms Executive Director John Naylor.

COP stars top draft board
The NBA season is over which means the Draft is almost upon us. On June 22 this year's lottery picks will head to the big apple for their chance at stardom. This year's draft class is jammed pack with COP players. Former COP MVP  Lonzo Ball (Chino Hills) leads the pack as the No. 2 projected pick. LA native Ball is anticipated to go to his hometown Lakers. His athleticism, ball handling and vision have many hailing him as the next NBA superstar. If Ball is selected by the Lakers it will be the fifth year in a row a COP player has been selected No. 1 or No. 2.

While Ball is a truly dynamic player, he isn't the only former COP standout forecasted to be a top draft pick. Both Jayson Tatum (Chaminade) and Malik Monk (Bentonville) are predicted to be top 10 draft picks. Tatum's size and shot have some likening his game to Carmelo Anthony. His dominance in the isolation game coupled with his size make him a mismatch nightmare.

Likewise, Monk will be a fantastic addition to any team. Although slightly undersized, Monk is a natural born scorer. With a pure stroke from deep and a crafty nack for finding a shot,  Monk's game is NBA ready.

Peach Jam lineups set
Summer basketball can mean only one thing: PEACH JAM! Each summer the Nike Peach Jam brings the top high school talent to Augusta, Ga. for one of the top tournaments of the season. This years field of 24 will be no different. From July 12 to July 16 top talent such as Marvin Bagley (Nike Phamily), Emmitt Williams (E1T1 United) and Silvio de Sousa (E1T1 United) will go head to head to see who will be crowned this year's Peach Jam Champion. The tournament is sure to set the stage for this year's season.

COP athletes compete in NBA Playoffs
After Monday's performance by the Golden State Warriors, the 2017 NBA playoffs have come to a close. This year's playoffs featured dominant performances from a variety of players. COP players were key contributors in a number of playoffs and this year was no exception. COP players were featured on 12 of the 16 playoff teams including both finals teams. James McAdoo (Warriors) joins Tristan Thompson (Cavaliers), Kyrie Irving** (Cavaliers) and Kevin Love (Cavaliers) as the only former COP players to be a part of an NBA Finals Champions team.
