Top Matchups to Watch
Monday
Hudson Catholic vs. Webster Groves

The tournament starts off with a bang with powerhouses Hudson Catholic and Webster Groves taking to the court. Returning seniors No. 21 Louis King and No. 23 Jahvon Quinerly will take on upstart No. 49 Courtney Ramey to decide who has what it takes to take for victory in game one.

Tuesday
University School vs. Archbishop Molloy

Tuesday's matchups are chock full of talent laden teams battling head to head. Amongst the myriad of great basketball being played on Tuesday one game stands above the rest. Game 9 tips-off at 7 p.m. and features two of this year's top teams. Scoring machine Vernon Carey Jr. is joined at University School by Scottie Barnes. Their first game of the tournament is sure to be a test against Archbishop Molloy's duo of Moses Brown and Cole Anthony.

Wednesday
(Pending) Hudson Catholic vs. Ranney School

The COP has seen it's share of upsets of the years but Wednesday's highlight game will likely be Hudson Catholic vs. Ranney School. Barring a true upset all eyes should be on the court for Wednesday's lineup as the experienced duo of Louis King and Jahvon Quinerly matches up against Ranney School's young talent. Ranney School features two of ESPN's top 15 players for the 2019 class in No. 8 Scottie Lewis and No. 12 Bryan Antoine. Scottie Lewis is a rim rattling small forward known for his highlight reel put backs while shooting guard Bryan Antoine is a sure handed ball handler and adapt shooter. This head to head matchup between seniors and juniors is sure to be a can't miss game.

Wisdom from The Whistle
Last month, we dove into what goes into the selection process for our experienced COP officials. As we the pondered the insights Supervisor of Officiating Kevin Hetherington provided last month we got to thinking about the history of officiating at the COP.  In it's infancy the COP wasn't much more than a local exhibition. A lot of changes have taken place to get the COP to the level of competition we have today. Equally, beneficial changes have been seen on the officiating side as well.

Q. Have officials always been recruited?
A. No, when the tournament first began we leaned on local talent pools for officiating. As the talent level continued to grow year after year we began to feel a need to recruit top talent in the officiating department.

Q. Has any COP official worked at every venue?
A . Frank Reposo is one of the longest standing COP officials. Having worked at Bishop Verot, Fort Myers High School, Harborside Event Center, Edison Community College and finally FSW Suncoast Credit Arena. Mr. Reposo is a D1 official and was one of the officials for last year's championship game.
