Dear Colleague: The Substance Abuse Prevention and Treatment Block Grant (SABG) is a significant source of funding for community-based substance use disorder prevention, treatment and recovery support services. Although states and jurisdictions have the primary responsibility for administering SABG activities and services, the organizations to whom the states and jurisdictions allocate the SABG funds play a vital role to ensure that the intent of the authorizing legislation governing the block grant is met.

In recognition of the importance of the federal-state-provider partnership, the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration’s Center for Substance Abuse Treatment (SAMHSA/CSAT) is pleased to announce the following webinar series:

Substance Abuse Prevention and Treatment Block Grant Webinar Series for
Block Grant-funded Substance Abuse Treatment Provider Organizations

The series will occur at 3-4p.m. (EDT) on November 9 and 16, and December 7 and 14, 2017.
The sessions will include an overview of the block grant requirements and in-depth discussions of critical programmatic (e.g., priority population) and fiscal requirements relevant to provider organizations.

The attachment provides an overview of each of the four sessions in the webinar series, including a brief description, the date and time, the ideal audience, and the list of presenters. Please share this announcement with SABG-funded treatment providers and intermediaries (counties, regional entities, managed care and administrative service organizations, etc.) in your state.
Look for separate invitations and a link to the webinar about a week before each session.
If you have any questions about the series, please contact Ms. Gayle Saunders of SAMHSA/CSAT at  [email protected] . If you have questions about how to log into the webinars, please contact Laura Bonilla of SAMHSA’s State Technical Assistance Project at [email protected] or 240-645-4388.
