On behalf of the Fallen Firefighters Memorial Task Force, the City of St. Catharines is prequalifying artists and/or artist teams to develop and implement a design for a memorial honouring the men and women who have died in the line of duty as a result of their work as firefighters in the City of St. Catharines.
Deadline: Mon. Feb. 1, 2021 2pm EST
Note: an artwork proposal is not requested at this time. Only online submissions on the bids and tenders site will be accepted.

The St. Catharines Arts Awards recognize and celebrate excellence in all areas of artistic creation. The Arts Awards seek to increase the visibility of St. Catharines' artists and cultural industries, honour cultural leaders and their achievements, and cultivate financial and volunteer support for the arts sector.
Nominations will be accepted for the following categories:
Arts in Education
Emerging Artist
Established Artist (artistic practice 10+yrs)
Making a Difference
Patron of the Arts
Nominations will close on Thurs. Apr. 1 at 4pm.
Staff will host a digital information session, details coming soon.
The Awards Show will be celebrated in Fall 2021.

Mandatory Masks By-Law
St. Catharines by-law requires owners and/or operators of enclosed public spaces, to require mask use by those entering their establishments, in addition to the provision of hand sanitizer at entrances. The Mandatory Masks By-law is currently in effect, enacted on Jul. 17, 2020.

NEW | The Niagara Tourism Adaptation and Recovery Fund
Will provide financial assistance in the form of 80% grants to enable tourism-dependent, small and medium sized businesses (SMEs) and Arts and Culture Not-for-Profits (NFP) organizations, to equip themselves to meet Public Health guidelines and protocols.
Utility Relief Program for Nonprofits
Nonprofits may be eligible for up to $1,500 in relief from their utility bills under the COVID-19 Energy Assistance Program as of January 1.
COVID-19 Regional Relief & Recovery Fund (RRRF) open to Nonprofits
Nonprofit social enterprises in southern Ontario with 1- 499 staff are now eligible for the RRRF, which provides interest-free operating loans (of which a portion is forgivable if paid in full by the end of 2022). Because eligibility was determined by the regional federal agency FedDevOntario, nonprofits had been inexplicably excluded from the first round.
