ST. CATHARINES CULTURAL INVESTMENT PROGRAM (SCCIP) UPDATES

2020 SCCIP PROGRAMS | NEW FUNDING PROGRAM ANNOUNCED | APPLICATIONS NOW OPEN

The Arts and Culture Community Revitalization Program support s projects that engage St. Catharines residents through performances, community art experiences, neighbourhood cultural activities and/or experiences that encourage participation, creativity and innovation. Priority will be given to arts and culture initiatives that support downtown revitalization and/or seek to enhance public life during recovery from the COVID-19 epidemic.

Deadline to apply: Friday, July 31, 4:30pm.
 

 
Deadlines for the following programs have closed for 2020: Culture Days Activity Program, and Sustaining Funding (Core, Midsized and Festival Programs)

Federal Government Support for Culture: Final Phase Announced 
The federal government has now announced the final component of Phase 2 of the $500M COVID-19 Emergency Support Fund for Culture, Heritage and Sport Organizations. 


Non-Profits can register as a potential Volunteer Opportunity for Summer Students & Recent Graduates through Canada Student Service Grant, Student volunteers will be compensated 
The Government of Canada has created the Canada Student Service Grant (CSSG), a program that will provide post-secondary students and recent graduates with volunteer opportunities to help with the response to COVID-19 at Canadian not-for-profit organizations, while also earning them a cash grant of $1000-$5000. By registering with the Government of Canada's new "I Want to Help platform", nonprofits can connect with student volunteers to help you provide essential services to Canadians.

Audio Recordings max. 4 minutes in the form of a song, poem, anecdote or story, piece of music, spoken word, or stream of consciousness thoughts etc.
Compensation provided to those selected.

Having acquired a passion for performing at a young age, Jessica Wilson is a multi-instrumentalist and triple threat performer who offers a fresh and upbeat sound. She has been honoured with the Emerging Artist Award at the St. Catharines Arts Awards, and both the 2018 and 2017 Niagara Music Award for "People's Choice" and "Female Vocalist".




MUSIC | The West African Kora
Presented by the St. Catharines Public Library

Sean Gaskell will give a virtual performance and educational demonstration on the kora, an ancient 21-stringed harp from West Africa. He will feature traditional songs that are the heart and soul of the kora's musical repertoire in addition to some of his own personal compositions.

CALL FOR ARTISTS AND PERFORMANCES
Presented by the Niagara Folk Arts Festival
Seeking artists from all formats: music, dance, DJs, visual arts, dramatic readings, theater presentations and more. Presentations do not need to be cultural in nature and could be presented in other languages. Performances must be family-friendly and able to be presented on a residential front lawn, sidewalk or boulevard. The performances will be live streamed. Artist bursaries to be negotiated.

PERFORMANCES TO BE AUCTIONED
The venues for each performance will be at local residential addresses, determined by an on-line auction-highest bid wins the right to have a 'show' on their front lawn or driveway.

New kits will be released each week and are available during curbside pickup hours at Central or Merritt Libraries while quantities last. No appointment necessary.
