Hello Fall!
"October sunshine bathed the park with such a melting light that it had the dimmed impressive look of a landscape by an old master. Leaves, one, two at a time, sidled down through the windless air."

~Elizabeth Enright, "Apple Seed and Apple Thorn," 1953

Fall has finally arrived, and we've got plenty of soft, snugly hoodies, and long sleeve tees that'll keep you warm and cozy on brisk market mornings. Join us tomorrow for some toe tappin' tunes with Last Small Town, and a market full of the freshest Fall produce around. And be sure to bring the kids for Pumpkin painting with Smativities. See you in the circle!
Apples & Cabbage
Apple-Sausage Hash
From Taste of Home
Hashes are perfect for mixing and matching fall flavors. This one highlights Brussels sprouts but you could also try sausage with apples, onions, and butternut squash! We'd suggest using Breakaway Farms pork apple sausage.

Phillips Farms
Brussels Sprouts, Spinach and Honeycrisp Apples
Did you know that Brussels Sprouts got their name because of their popularity in 16th century Belgium? (You guessed it, whose capital city is Brussels).  Did you also know that that a cup of Brussels Sprouts packs a whopping 4 grams of Protein per cup, which is surprisingly high for a veggie. Just don’t over-cook them, which is what turns most people off to them. Brussels Sprouts are available at Phillips Farms this week, as well as Spinach, Fennel, Arugula, Hot Peppers, and Garlic. And don’t forget the fruit! Apple varieties this week: Honeycrisp; Gala; Fuji; Ambrosia; Macoun; Jonagold; Shizuka; Cortland; and Golden Delicious; Empire; Bartlett Pears and Asian Pears.
