Christmas Opening Hours for Council Facilities

Cumberland Council service centres, libraries, pools, community centres and childcare centres will have varied opening hours over the holiday period.

Cumberland Council's Merrylands and Auburn Service Centres will be closed from 4.30pm Monday 24 December and reopen at 8am Wednesday 2 January 2019. Both Service Centres will also close early at 12pm on Friday 21 December 2018.

Waste and recycling service collections will continue as scheduled over the Christmas and New Year period. All garbage, recycling and garden waste bins will be collected as per normal on the resident's scheduled day, including all public holidays.

Throughout the shutdown period, residents may call Council's Contact Centre for urgent matters on 8757 9000.

This will be the last Cumberland Council e-News for 2018. On behalf of everyone at Cumberland Council, we wish all residents a Merry Christmas and a safe holiday season.

Councils secure commitment to widen Bridge Road overpass

Cumberland Council and the City of Parramatta have welcomed the NSW Government's commitment to widening the Bridge Road rail overpass at Westmead, ending years of negotiation between local and state governments. As part of the upgrade at the Alexandra Parade intersection, the new rail overpass will expand from two lanes to three, providing two southbound lanes and one northbound to ease morning peak hour traffic.

Have your say on the Prospect Hill Plan of Management

Council has prepared a draft Plan of Management for Prospect Hill, to help guide the future management and development of the site. Prospect Hill in Pemulwuy is one of the highest points between the NSW coastline and the Blue Mountains, allowing a unique 360-degree view of Sydney from the top of the hill. Registered as a Local and State Heritage site, the parkland is where the first Aboriginal and European reconciliation was held in Sydney.
