Flick the switch for Earth Hour 2018

Cumberland Council is taking part in Earth Hour 2018 by turning off all non-essential lighting at all Council buildings and facilities between 8.30pm - 9.30pm on Saturday 24 March 2018.

Mayor Greg Cummings invites all residents to join with Council and turn off their lights for Earth Hour.

"As a Council we believe local governments have a key role to play in helping local communities transition to more sustainable and renewable energy sources," Mayor Cummings said.

"We have joined the Climate Council's Cities Power Partnership, which champions clean energy solutions in Australian towns and cities.

"We have set clear environmental goals in our Community Strategic Plan and Delivery Program 2017-27 and are resourcing them accordingly.

"And we're working on a new Environmental Management Framework, which will establish Cumberland as a model Council in the renewable energy space."
