Greetings!
We wanted to share with you news and photos about a recently produced Cunningham C4R continuation car. There have actually been two runs of Cunningham C4R continuation cars, producing five cars altogether. Cunningham Historic Motorsport Cars, owned by Larry Black & Briggs S. Cunningham III, produced four (4) C4R continuation cars in the 1990s that were authorized by the Cunningham family. Read details below. In 2012, Ben Shuckburgh built a replica based on C-3 chassis #5238. See details below. Warmly,
Larry Berman

Cunningham Historic Motorsport Cars
Larry Black, living in Seattle, WA, had long felt that the Cunningham C4R sports-racing car was the most visually exciting automobile on the planet. In 1993, recognizing that the two original C4R roadsters and the lone C4RK coupe were preserved in world-class private collections, he decided that the time had come to seriously consider building a C4R roadster recreation. But not simply a plastic "look-alike" or kit car. Larry's vision was to duplicate the original car with exacting precision and correct materials, and, if possible, to work with the Cunningham family to eventually deliver a small number of turn-key Cunningham C4R "continuation" cars with a direct link to the glory days of the Cunningham racing team. Ben Shuckburgh
Replica based on C-3 chassis #5238
C3 chassis #5238 (engine number C52-8-42343) was left "rolling" with engine, gearbox, and running gear but unfinished when Briggs Cunningham shut down his car manufacturing operation.
In 2012 that chassis was modified and built up as an exact recreation of the C-4R by Jim Stokes Workshops in Waterlooville, Hampshire, UK, using many surviving original parts.
Everything that has needed to be made has been done, using over 200 original factory blueprints kindly provided by the Collier Museum (home of the Cunningham Collection and several of the surviving Cunningham cars). Every item on the car is exactly correct to the original drawings.
The car will be raced in major events, giving people the chance to see it at full chat and in the heat of competition. The car has been granted FIA HTP papers and will be racing at this year's Goodwood Revival in September. Read more...
