Are you thinking about working or volunteering with children in the Parish or Diocese? Do you want to be “ready to go” if there is a call for volunteers? As required by U.S. Catholic dioceses, all volunteers who have contact with children and/or youth are required to submit to background checks; and all volunteers whose roles put them in contact with children and/or youth, all employees, and all clergy are required to attend a child safety awareness program designed for adults called Virtus®. Following the initial 3-hour child safety awareness training, the attendees will maintain their child safety awareness through bi-monthly online bulletins via their VIRTUS account. Faith: The Next Generation - Pass it on!
|
|
This fall over 170 children, in 1st thru 8th grade, will sign up for School of Religion classes to learn more about Jesus and our Catholic faith. At this time, several classes are in need of catechists and aides to lead these children.
Curé of Ars uses a Flipped Classroom approach to teaching:
- textbooks-learning is done at home with the parents
- twice-monthly classes highlight 2 to 3 topics from the textbook chapters reviewed at home
- children are offered opportunities to personally know and love Jesus
You certainly do not need to be an expert on teaching or the Catholic faith to be a wonderful guide to these children. Curé provides training, materials, and support through out the year to each catechist.
Classes will begin on September 11th!

Catechesis of the Good Shepherd (CGS) is a self-directed Montessori-based approach to children’s religious formation. It is rooted in the Bible and the Liturgy of the Church and based on the understanding that children, already in a relationship with the Holy Spirit, can grow in spirituality and faith given the opportunity to express that relationship within a structured environment. Classes are held in a simple setting called an “atrium”, a quiet place to hear God speak to their hearts and work with child-sized materials to encourage exploration. These items are many including a small replica of the altar, the sacred vessels, and vestments used in the Mass. CGS is divided into three Levels based on the development of the child. Curé of Ars offers a Level I (ages 3-6) Atrium, a Level II (ages 6-9) Atrium and
NEW THIS YEAR a Level 3 (ages 9-12) Atrium. Our Level 3 sessions involve Bible study and instruction in the Old Testament. Classes begin in October on Thursdays and enrollment is open now. For more information, please go to

School of Religion Registration

Are you interested in enrolling your children in Catholic faith formation classes this academic year or do you know someone who is? Curé of Ars School of Religion (SOR) program exists to serve the parish community of families whose children attend a school outside of the Catholic school system. Our goal is to support parents as the primary educators of the Catholic faith by encouraging families toward a growing relationship with Jesus Christ and living out this relationship in their daily lives.

Registration for the School of Religion (SOR) is open!

Curé of Ars has served a meal every month to the hungry at St. Mary's Food Kitchen for over 30 years. This ministry is a great service to those in need and a great opportunity for Curé parishioners to come together as a community. Curé of Ars serves approximately 350+ people every third Monday of each month. We need your help.
Our next day to serve is August 19th.
Volunteers leave the church at 8:30 am to prepare and serve lunch to the hungry in Kansas City, Kansas. Volunteers are also needed to provide food items such as taco meat, shredded cheese, baked goods, and fresh fruit.
