Curé of Ars Outstanding Teacher of the Year
In 1994 a family in the parish wanted to do something special for our teachers at Curé of Ars. They have long recognized the dedication, sacrifice, and continuing contributions made by all the teachers in our school.
With the goal to foster excellence in education at Curé of Ars school, the McGurren family established the McGurren Family Endowment. Their objective is to recognize, reward, and retain outstanding teachers at our school.
Each spring our teachers are given the opportunity to nominate a teacher they truly believe deserves this honor. A selection committee of several individuals including members of the McGurren family, Fr. Storey, and multiple Principals from other Catholic schools meet to review the applications and make the difficult decision.
We are excited to announce that the recipient of the Curé Outstanding Teacher of the Year for 2022-2023 goes to Mrs. Julie Haas! Mrs. Haas is one of our 3rd-grade teachers that has dedicated her years of service to Catholic education and is beloved by the entire school community of students and staff.
Mrs. Haas has received a beautiful plaque recognizing her accomplishment as Teacher of the Year as well as a monetary reward from the McGurren Family Endowment. Congratulations, Mrs. Haas!

We would like to express our heartfelt gratitude to everyone who attended Dr. Bill Creasy's captivating presentation on May 19 and 20. A special thank you goes out to the dedicated parishioners who organized and funded the trip to Kansas City, allowing both the Curé of Ars community and local Catholics to share in this enriching experience. Dr. Creasy provided valuable insights on how to be informed readers of scripture, focusing on four key principles: geography, history, literary context, and the voice of God. After the Friday session, attendees enjoyed wine and cheese in the Fr. Burak Room, and on Saturday, we reflected on the life of King David. It was wonderful to see over 200 people attend Friday night and different groups participate in each Saturday session. We appreciate everyone's support in making this event a success and fostering a deeper connection to scripture. Dr. Creasy's presentation can be viewed on our website at https://cureofars.com/dr-bill-creasy-event.

The School of Religion is in need of Catechists and Aides for the upcoming School year, 2023-24. Please prayerfully consider sharing the Catholic faith and love for Jesus with our children. Training, materials, and support will be provided. We also need Substitutes and Special Project Volunteers which require less time commitment.
Our parish School of Religion utilizes a flipped-classroom approach. Children attend classes twice monthly during the School year. For more information, check out our webpage at www.cureofars.com/religioused.

Honoring the Sacred Heart of Jesus
During the Month of June, we will display the Sacred Heart of Jesus statue and light a candle at all Masses in honor of the unmitigated love, compassion, and long-suffering of the heart of Christ towards humanity. We are strongly encouraged to consecrate ourselves and our world to the Sacred Heart because it is “a symbol and a sensible image of the infinite love of Jesus Christ which moves us to love one another” (Annum sacrum, 8).
Lord Jesus,
You gave your life for us.
Your Sacred Heart is ablaze with love.
Your hand extends towards me, and towards all, offering love, mercy, and healing.
Sacred Heart of Jesus may your love transform me.
Burn away my hesitation that I may become your love and radiate your mercy.
Amen.

Curé of Ars has served a meal every month to the hungry at St. Mary's Food Kitchen for over 30 years. This ministry is a great service to those in need and a great opportunity for Curé parishioners to come together as a community. Cure of Ars serves approximately 350+ people every third Monday of each month. We need your help.
Volunteers leave the church at 7:30 am on the third Monday of each month to serve lunch to the hungry in Kansas City, Kansas. Volunteers are also needed to provide food items such as taco meat, shredded cheese, baked goods, and fresh fruit.

Eucharistic Adoration Chapel
“Let the Children come to me…“ (Luke 18:16)
Each of us is a precious child, called to an intimate relationship with God through friendship and love. We are called as His children to open our hearts in trust, and to gaze upon the beauty of our Redeemer in awe. When we come to Adoration, we are handing God the keys to our hearts, allowing the rays of His love and grace to bathe our souls in the light of His Presence. Like Mary of Bethany, we are seating ourselves at the feet of Christ and letting His very essence pour down upon us. It is here that we find the better part.
Have you considered spending an hour of your time at the feet of Jesus? Many hours are currently open in the Adoration Chapel. The schedule is now online at https://cureofars.com/adults-eucharistic-adoration. Or contact Lisa at 913.558.1187 or at lisawhi@gmail.com.
Within the quiet of our hearts, we find God. Within the whisper of our souls, He speaks.
