Curé of Ars News
The 177 Project - This Saturday, September 28th!
The 177 Project is a nationwide tour designed to help bring more people into Eucharistic Adoration. In the Fall of 2018, the tour visited 125 different parishes and witnessed 30,000 people attend one of their Adoration evenings. Each night begins with an acoustic concert before moving into a Holy Hour. On September 28 , the 177 Project will be visiting Curé of Ars. The evening begins at 7 pm and confession will be available. No tickets are necessary and the event is free to attend. A love offering will be taken. Aly Aleigha will be the artist traveling for this event. For more information, please visit the177project.com.
October is Respect Life Month
You're invited to join Catholics nationwide in celebrating Respect Life Month this October with the message "Christ our HOPE in every season of Life." Curé of Ars has two events planned to celebrate in October and the Archdiocese has arranged for other opportunities as listed below:

  • Life Chain: Be a link in the Life Chain on Sunday, October 6th from 1:30-2:30! Life Chain is an annual, peaceful, prayerful public witness of thousands of Americans standing in honor of 60 million lives lost to abortion, praying for our nation, for people in crisis, and for an end to abortion.  We will stand with signs on both the north and south sides of 95th street in front of Ranchmart. Signs are provided or you can make your own sign and bring it! Look for yellow balloons to meet for signs and Rosary beginning at 1:15 pm. If you don’t usually take pro-life action throughout the year, this is the one activity in which you can easily participate!

  • Baby Supplies Drive: Curé of Ars is collecting much-needed baby items to donate to our local pregnancy centers for families in need. Please bring your donations to church anytime October 12th-20th and place them in the baby crib in the vestibule. The items in most need right now are: diapers-especially sizes 4,5,6, new onesies, new sleepers, packs of baby socks, shampoo, lotion, and body wash for babies and moms, wipes, Tylenol for children, new teething toys, pacifiers, and car seats. For a complete list or questions, contact Joanna Rivard at 913.620.1758 or [email protected]

  • 40 Days for Life: A focused pro-life campaign with a vision to access God’s power through prayer, fasting, and peaceful vigil to end abortion. Curé of Ars has been assigned Friday, November 1st to gather on the sidewalk outside the Center for Women's Health abortion facility at 4840 College Blvd to pray for the end of abortion. This is simply a peaceful and prayerful vigil for the unborn. You can sign up for as many one hour shifts as you like at ttsu.me/40days110119. Signs are provided and will be available at the sidewalk. Simply click on the link above to sign up or contact Joanna at [email protected] or 913.620.1758. Thank you for being a voice for the voiceless!

  • Respect Life Sunday Mass: The first Sunday of October is observed as Respect Life Sunday. Please join us for a special celebration with Archbishop Naumann on Sunday, October 6 at 11:30 a.m at Holy Trinity Catholic Church, 13615 W. 92nd Street, Lenexa KS. Reception to follow in the Father Quigley Center.

  • “NARAL’s Catholic Strategy” – Terry Beatley, author of What If We’ve Been Wrong? and President of the Hosea Initiative: How Dr. Bernard Nathanson, the man known in the 1970s as “America's Abortion King", helped NARAL launch the national campaign for abortion-on-demand by deceiving the Courts and Americans, and undermining the Church, and after his Saul-to-Paul conversion, became a staunch defender of life. Terry explains what this truth means for us today!

  • October 16, 6:30 pm: Sacred Heart, Emporia, KS

Learning about the RCIA process
The first step in the Rite of Catholic Initiation of Adults (RCIA) is the Precatechumate, or Inquiry, stage. You will be led to deepen your relationship with God and discover the Catholic faith. We encourage you to ask questions, hear the Gospel, and share your faith with Catholics who are members of the Curé of Ars parish community and with other men and women who are also exploring the Catholic faith. This Inquiry stage will help you discern if you are ready to move onto the next step, the Catechumenate Stage. At Curé, the Inquiry Stage will run October 7th through November 18th and meet on Mondays from 7 to 8:30 pm in the Father Burak room. To learn more about RCIA or to join, please go to cureofars.com/rcia , or contact Sister Rosie at 913.521.9380 or [email protected].

St. Mary's Food Kitchen
Curé of Ars has served a meal every month to the hungry at St. Mary's Food Kitchen for over 30 years. This ministry is a great service to those in need and a great opportunity for Curé parishioners to come together as a community. Curé of Ars serves approximately 350+ people every third Monday of each month. We need your help. Our next day to serve is October 21st.

Volunteers leave the church at 8:30 am to prepare and serve lunch to the hungry in Kansas City, Kansas. Volunteers are also needed to provide food items such as taco meat, shredded cheese, baked goods, and fresh fruit. To commit to bringing a donation or volunteering to serve, please go to https://cureofars.com/st-marys-food-kitchen.
