State of the Parish

Dear Curé Family,

With the support of the Finance Council, I am pleased to share with you the State of the Parish. The second year of Eucharistic Amazement has been filled with opportunities to deepen our faith and love for Jesus Christ. I hope you have taken the opportunity to participate in the Mass, spend time in Adoration or Holy Hour, join a small prayer group, Bible study, or retreat. Perhaps you met new friends or reconnected with old friends at the Eucharistic Procession, the Volunteer Appreciation Dinner, the Chiefs Tailgate Party, or the Holy Smokes Barbeque. The parish continues to thrive and I am grateful for the many hours of volunteerism, generosity, and prayers that you have given over the past year.

Looking ahead, we are excited about the upcoming year, which will be filled with new events and chances to further enrich our faith journeys. This year’s successes would not have been possible without your generous gifts of time, talent, and treasure. We are particularly enthusiastic about the Ministry Fair this weekend and invite you to explore new ways to get involved.

We have also made significant progress in addressing deferred maintenance at the school, including the renovation of student restrooms and the west side HVAC system. Additionally, we have begun a revitalization of the Adoration Chapel, and we eagerly anticipate the arrival of new furnishings. This is an exciting time of renewal as we assess the needs of our parish and work towards improvements that will support our faith community.

Thank you for your continued support and commitment to our parish. Together, we can grow in faith and service.

Yours in Christ,

Father Storey

FINANCE COUNCIL 2023-2024

I wish to thank, Christina Gyllenborg for her many years of service to the Finance Council and also to Bill Conway for his leadership as Chairperson. We appreciate your time in helping us be good stewards of our resources and build for the future.

We welcome in 24-25, Kris Hennessey, Scott Campbell and Ned O’Connor to the Finance

Council. Thank you for joining us in this important ministry.

Changes to offertory envelopes

Beginning in January 2025, our envelopes will be mailed bi-Monthly (every 2 months) instead of Monthly. This will be a significant cost savings in postage. With this change, we are also adding the option of monthly offertory envelopes (one per month as opposed to one per week). Again, this will be a cost savings as well as aligning better with the way many of our parishioners give & saving a few trees in the process.

Go to cureofars.com/envelopes to update your envelope preferences or contact Sandy Drake at 913.521.9363 or giving@cureofars.com with questions.

St. Mary's Food Kitchen
Curé of Ars has served a meal every month to the hungry at St. Mary's Food Kitchen for over 30 years. This ministry is a great service to those in need and a great opportunity for Curé parishioners to come together as a community. Cure of Ars serves approximately 350+ people every third Monday of each month. We need your help.

Volunteers leave the church at 7:30 am on the third Monday of each month to serve lunch to the hungry in Kansas City, Kansas. Volunteers are also needed to provide food items such as taco meat, shredded cheese, baked goods, and fresh fruit.

How can you help? Please go online at https://cureofars.com/st-marys-food-kitchen to sign up to donate your food, water, time, and/or give a monetary donation.

Eucharistic Adoration Chapel

“Let the Children come to me…“ (Luke 18:16)

Each of us is a precious child, called to an intimate relationship with God through friendship and love. We are called as His children to open our hearts in trust, and to gaze upon the beauty of our Redeemer in awe. When we come to Adoration, we are handing God the keys to our hearts, allowing the rays of His love and grace to bathe our souls in the light of His Presence. Like Mary of Bethany, we are seating ourselves at the feet of Christ and letting His very essence pour down upon us. It is here that we find the better part.

Have you considered spending an hour of your time at the feet of Jesus? Many hours are currently open in the Adoration Chapel. The schedule is now online at https://cureofars.com/adults-eucharistic-adoration. Or contact Lisa at 913.558.1187 or at lisawhi@gmail.com

Within the quiet of our hearts, we find God. Within the whisper of our souls, He speaks.
