Curé of Ars News
A message from Father Storey
Thank you for your patience in how we have been celebrating Mass these past months. All of us pray that one day we can be back to the normal we all once knew. This past weekend there was a larger crowd at each of the Masses and thus I feel we are at a point where we need to add an additional Mass.

Starting on October 3rd, we will be adding an additional Mass on Sunday. Our weekend Mass schedule will be 4 PM Saturday and 7:30 AM; 9 AM; 10:30 AM and Noon on Sunday. We are committed to keeping the Masses to 45 minutes and therefore feel there is enough time to sanitize the church after each service.

We will continue to follow the guidelines of wearing masks and socially distancing ourselves to remain safe. Starting this weekend, all pews will be available for seating but I ask that you do not sit directly in front of or behind someone who is already seated in a pew. By staggering yourself in the pews, we will be able to maximize attendance while still allowing for social distancing.

A special word of thanks to all who are so faithful in the financial support of our parish during these times. Each week we are blessed with the generosity of so many through the collection, automatic withdrawals, mailed in envelopes and personally delivered donations to the parish office. As you all know, our bills continue to come in during this time and your financial commitment to the parish enables us to meet our responsibilities. Curé of Ars has always been known as a very generous parish and I thank each of you for your commitment to seeing that our parish and school continue to have the things we need to continue our heavenly journey.

Our parish office staff is committed to serving each of your needs and at most times there is someone at the office during the morning hours. We are committed to answering your calls in a timely fashion and our hope is to soon be open. Thank you for your patience as we have some employees who have some health concerns in their families that require they take extra precautions.  Again, please do not hesitate to call and or to come by as we are here for you.

We are still in need of people willing to act as ushers at the Masses. If you feel your health will allow you to, please consider helping in this important ministry. You may contact Carol Morris at 913.521.9362. She will be able to sign you up and get you started as an usher or any other ministry you feel called to help with here at Curé.

Blessings,
Fr. Storey

Faith, Hope and Charity Capital Campaign Update
As construction wraps up, there are still a few final items being finalized outside and inside. It is an exciting time for the students, staff, parents, and parishioners to see and use the new and improved facilities. We are working on producing a video tour to share the finished space with all of Curé of Ars parishioners soon.
Thank you to all of those who have already made a pledge commitment to the campaign. We have reached $8.916 million in pledges and 41.08% participation. We hope to hear from all parishioners as to their intent. Letters of intent are available online on our website. Please visit our website to keep current on the progress of the project, complete your letter of intent, or set up payment processing.

Thank you for your prayers and support.

Interested in Becoming Catholic?
Are you curious about the Catholic faith? Have you been baptized in another Christian faith but are interested in learning about the Catholic Church? Were you baptized a Catholic and perhaps even made your First Holy Communion but were never Confirmed?

If you answered “yes” to any of these questions, a warm welcome to you! The process of exploring the Catholic faith is called the RCIA and we would love to have you join us!

The Rite of Christian Initiation is a gradually deepening process of exploring how God may be calling a person to a life of faith, exploring the person of Jesus, and encountering him and his community of believers, the Church.

Within this community, those inquiring into the Catholic faith uncover the story of God's salvation for all: the mystery of Jesus' life, death, and resurrection. The working of the Holy Spirit is revealed in the beliefs, sacramental life, and spiritual practices of the Catholic Church.

RCIA is scheduled to begin in October and will be meeting via Zoom on Monday evenings. Those interested in participating are encouraged to fill out this form. We also are needing volunteers that help with Faith Formation. If you are interested in helping, please fill out this form.

If you would like to speak with Sister Rosie, our RCIA coordinator, please email her at srrosie@cureofars.com with your name and number and she will respond to you.
St. Mary's Food Kitchen
Every third Monday of each month, Curé of Ars provides lunch at St. Mary’s Food Kitchen. Prior to March 17, 2020, Curé of Ars parishioners would prepare and serve a hot meal that was enjoyed in the dining room; averaging between 350-400 meals served. Due to the Coronavirus Pandemic, St. Mary’s had to switch from hot lunches to sack lunches. The number of lunches Curé of Ars now provides is approximately 750-875.

How can you help? We will be collecting donations again on October 17th. Please go online, https://cureofars.com/st-marys-food-kitchen to sign up to donate your food, water, time (help put together the lunch sacks), and/or give a monetary donation. We are also collecting reusable bags to help with distributing lunches.
