A Message from Principal Legler
Curé Families,

Did you know that Curé of Ars kicks off Catholic Schools Week (CSW) this Sunday at the 10:30 Mass? Students are encouraged to wear their Curé school uniforms to show their Curé pride. National Catholic Schools Week is an annual celebration of Catholic education in the United States and begins this Sunday and will continue all next week. Join us as Curé and all Catholic schools across the country observe the week with Masses, assemblies and other activities for students, families, parishioners and community members. We have a ton of fun activities happening each day next week. Take a look at the schedule in the link as there are many events and themed days that you’ll want to check out. Please help us celebrate CSW by joining us this Sunday at the 10:30AM mass!

Peace of Christ,
-Mr. Legler
NEW INFORMATION
Covid-19 Updates
I want to provide you all with our future COVID plans as we look to flip the calendar to February. We continue to keep a close eye on our own COVID data here at Curé on a daily basis and our numbers are headed in the right direction.

In full transparency, as our numbers continue to decline at Curé we will be having discussions in the coming weeks as a Health & safety team and with Fr. Storey to determine a date to switch to a mask optional school.

Many of you may have heard that there are already other Catholic K-8 Johnson County schools that are mask optional. Other K-8 schools will soon follow suit once their own local data shows that positivity rates have come down. Going mask optional in the near future is a goal for all of our Johnson County Catholic schools.

While the Omicron variant has shown to be much more transmissible, we are happy and thankful to see that up until this point we have seen our Curé students experience only mild symptoms. Over the last 21 months our own data at Curé (and even within the entire Archdiocese where there are regions that have been mask optional all year) has given us much confidence that we can safely move to mask optional status. Families have the option to be vaccinated, boosted, or wear KN95 masks if you wish and can continue to do so once we move to mask optional. I think it is telling that our school auction tickets recently went on sale and sold out 700 seats within just a few days. That has never happened before. If you attend mass at Curé on Sundays, the majority of our parishioners and school families are not in a mask. Our community is both showing us and telling us that they support moving towards going mask optional. We know there will be mixed opinions and we will continue to respectfully listen to all viewpoints with the goal of moving towards mask optional. As previously mentioned, we will keep an eye on our Curé data but I want you all to know the end goal and where we are headed in the near future. As always, if you have any questions please come see Shelly, Angela, or myself to chat.

Peace of Christ,
-Andrew Legler
