Our eighth graders are off to a great start already! Two groups spent time volunteering at Giving the Basics and Cure’s sister school, Holy Name, this week.
At Giving the Basics, we learned about the need for basic necessities like soap, toothpaste, and toilet paper and their importance in assuring each person’s human dignity. Then we got to work packaging bandaids, shampoo, chapstick, and other items.
At Holy Name, we stuffed backpacks with school supplies for their students. Unfortunately, we realized there is a dire need for supplies to fill these backpacks. We would like to help. We’ll have bins in the church vestibule to collect items until next Tuesday, Aug. 16. If you can help, please donate as soon as possible so we can deliver the supplies for their first day of school next week. Here are some of the needed items with some estimated numbers:
Spiral notebooks - wide-ruled (150)
Packages of colored construction paper (15)
Elmer’s glue (60)
Colored pencils
Pencil boxes/bags (50)
Headphones for iPads and Chromebooks
Blue or black pens
Markers
Glue sticks
Erasers
Reusable water bottles
Hand sanitizer
Disinfecting wipes
Baby wipes
Paper towels
Thank you in advance for your generosity!
