8th Grade-Leadership through Service

The class of 2023 has worked hard this year to raise funds for their class gifts! Through their hard work and your generous donations they are able to purchase the following:

New Bike Racks outs front

New science equipment needed for hands on lab learning in the middle school

A new Healthy Vending Machine

A donation to their service project called Sleep in Heavenly Peace

A donation to CYO for new uniforms

This week, in addition to their class gifts, they hosted a Castleball Tournament with Mrs. Buser to raise funds for their class service project. Sleep in Heavenly Peace makes and delivers beds to children in Kansas City who have no beds. The students and Mrs. Buser presented a check to SIHP for $8,300. The students will build the beds on April 14th and 20 of them will have the opportunity deliver them to the kids. To learn more about this program go to www.shpbeds.org

I want to thank the parent leaders who coordinated the efforts: Lisa Zieren, Maureen Blount, Jamie Hess, Lindsey Dunn, Callie Hahn and John Schwaller. A big thank you to our 8th grade Teachers, Mrs. Buser and Mrs. Englebert.

Kansas Assessment Testing Starting After Spring Break

Our end-of-the-year testing starts right after spring break and continues into mid-May. Please look in your child’s newsletter from their classroom teacher for the grade’s testing dates. We ask for your support in trying to avoid scheduling appointments during those times as make-up tests will mean pulling them from other critical instruction. Also, we ask for your help in making sure students are getting a full night’s sleep the night before and have a healthy breakfast to fuel their brain.

Uniform Check-Ups

We are now three quarters into our school year, and the students have been growing both in mind and body. Spring break is a great time to schedule haircuts and to check on the length of shorts, pants, and skirts. Hems can be released from shorts and skirts to allow for some extra length without having to buy a new uniform item. We will be doing periodic uniform checks in the fourth quarter, and we don't want students to miss out on out-of-uniform days because they earned a uniform violation.

Lost & Found

We have an abundance of lost and found items! Come and take a look between the hours of 8am-11am tomorrow.
