Building Committee Update
Here are some highlights of major projects the building committee has been working on over the summer.
Church/PAC:
PAC floor has been sealed, so it is protected and looks nice. Parking lot sealing completed. Completed moisture assessment of the church's flat roof and found it to be in good shape. Assessing the copper roof for leaks at the peak stained glass area.
School:
Security film was applied to all doors and lower level windows to keep the students safe. Two new HVAC units were installed for the south wing of the school. New HVAC was installed in the counseling area.
Master plan update:
Since the beginning of 2024 we have been working with Multistudio, the Archdiocese, and the City of Leawood extensively to evaluate the options available to tackle the following needs identified from parish feedback received in the fall.
- Large gathering space adjacent to the church
- Additional and accessible ministry meeting spaces
- Accessible, secure and functional workspace for parish staff
- Parking and site improvements required by the city
The Building Committee has looked at various options, taking into consideration current and future needs. We have explored various build sites, costs of renovation versus new construction, school needs, and parking and traffic flow.
We will also continue to tackle the deferred and current maintenance needs of the campus and will provide monthly updates in the bulletin, newsletter, and church website on our progress.
If you have any questions for the Building Committee please feel free to reach out to any of the members or contact the parish office. You can also stay up to date by visiting the church website https://cureofars.com/building-report

Order of Christian Initiation (OCIA/RCIA)
The Order of Christian Initiation of Adults (OCIA/RCIA) is a program for adults who want to become Catholic or who want to complete their initiation sacraments. The process is centered on developing a relationship with Jesus and the Catholic Church, learning about the faith, and participating in the parish community. It includes classes, discussions, prayer times, and ceremonies. This year's sessions for RCIA will start on Monday, September 23rd in the Fr. Burak room at 7:00 pm. Remember, it is our duty as Catholics to be Christ's disciples by inviting any and everyone to join us at the banquet table. If you would like more information about OCIA at Curé of Ars go to our website at https://cureofars.com/rcia or reach out to Lillian Klein at 913.521.9360, Bill Hobbs at 913.338.4820, or rcia@cureofars.com.

Pack 3395 New Cub Scout Sign-Up Night
Do you have a son or grandson who loves camping in the backyard, venturing through the woods, or roasting S’mores over a campfire? Cub Scouts may be the program for them!
Curé of Ars Pack 3395 will be having our New Cub Scout Sign-Up Night on Thursday, September 12 at 7:00pm in the Curé of Ars school cafeteria. Learn about the pack’s calendar of events, the fun activities and skills your Scout will learn, and sign-up your Scout for the parish’s pack.
Cub Scout begins with kindergarten and goes up to 5th grade. Scouts join other boys who are in their same grade. Any time is a great time to join the Cub Scouts and get active in the program that teaches great life skills and a love for the outdoors.
All in the parish are welcome to come and join. Email Kyle Rogler for additional information: krog630@gmail.com.

Curé of Ars has served a meal every month to the hungry at St. Mary's Food Kitchen for over 30 years. This ministry is a great service to those in need and a great opportunity for Curé parishioners to come together as a community. Cure of Ars serves approximately 350+ people every third Monday of each month. We need your help.
Volunteers leave the church at 7:30 am on the third Monday of each month to serve lunch to the hungry in Kansas City, Kansas. Volunteers are also needed to provide food items such as taco meat, shredded cheese, baked goods, and fresh fruit.

Eucharistic Adoration Chapel
“Let the Children come to me…“ (Luke 18:16)
Each of us is a precious child, called to an intimate relationship with God through friendship and love. We are called as His children to open our hearts in trust, and to gaze upon the beauty of our Redeemer in awe. When we come to Adoration, we are handing God the keys to our hearts, allowing the rays of His love and grace to bathe our souls in the light of His Presence. Like Mary of Bethany, we are seating ourselves at the feet of Christ and letting His very essence pour down upon us. It is here that we find the better part.
Have you considered spending an hour of your time at the feet of Jesus? Many hours are currently open in the Adoration Chapel. The schedule is now online at https://cureofars.com/adults-eucharistic-adoration. Or contact Lisa at 913.558.1187 or at lisawhi@gmail.com.
Within the quiet of our hearts, we find God. Within the whisper of our souls, He speaks.
