From the President

What makes a school like Curley work best is when the administration and faculty, along with parents and students, are on the same page with shared goals and expectations. While that is never perfect, buying into the same mission makes quite a difference. I’ve learned that from my long involvement with Curley, but have also learned that to be true in every successful Catholic school. Thank you, Parents, for buying into the Curley mission, and so actively promoting it. I go to few places without meeting someone from our Curley Family, and I look forward to seeing you in the future. It’s been an honor to be here at Curley these years. God bless you and your families, and may God grant you “peace and all good things!”

From the Principal

I want to thank you for a wonderful school year. I hope that you are able to find time for some rest and relaxation during the summer months. I pray that it is a restorative time for you and your family, as well as for our faculty and staff.

I am proud of the many successes of our students. I hope that their summer is fun, relaxing, and safe. I encourage them to be attentive to the work posted on the Back-to-School page of the website, and to find time for prayer as they nourish their spirit.

As I move into a new office here at Curley, I look forward to our continued engagement together as we all support the mission of our school. I thank Fr. Donald for his dedicated leadership and wish him all the best. He has been an important part of the fabric of Curley, and I certainly hope we see him often on campus in the future.

Finally, I ask that you join me in thanking our faculty and staff for their hard work this year. Their commitment to the school’s mission and to your sons makes our school community special.

This will be the last bulletin of the school year. Communication over the summer will occur via email. We will resume the electronic bulletin in late August.

From the Assistant Principal of Academics

I wanted to thank everyone for making this another wonderful school year. Please be aware that our summer hours begin this Monday, June 15, 2026. The office will be open Monday - Thursday from 9:00 am to 2:00 pm. We will transition back to normal hours on Monday, August 15th. Students received their Math summer packets over the last two weeks and the rest of the summer work will be available on the website on June 15th. I wish each of you a restful and enjoyable summer taking time with family and friends. Please reach out this summer if you have any questions or concerns as we prepare for an amazing 2026-2027 school year.

National Honor Society Announcement

Juniors and Seniors who are eligible to apply for the National Honor Society for the 2026-2027 school year will be emailed in early July. Completed NHS applications (including the essay and letters of recommendation) will be due to Mrs. Vandergriff by September 14, 2026.

From Counseling Office

The Counseling Office is in need of extra ties and belts. During the school year, if your son forgets a tie and/or belt our office keeps extras for them to borrow for the day. Unfortunately we are completely out of ties and belts, so if you have any extras (or if your son forgot to bring his borrowed item back) please consider donating them to the Counseling Office. Thank you and have a great summer!

From the Campus Minister

As summer begins, I wanted to send a few quick reminders.

First, a reminder regarding service hours. All students are required to complete their service hours by April, and many students choose to work on these hours during the summer months.

Please remember that service hours must be completed through a nonprofit organization that addresses a genuine need in the community. Activities such as working at sports camps run by club teams, recreation centers, or other organizations whose primary purpose is athletics or recreation do not qualify for service hours. While these can be valuable experiences, they do not meet the requirements of our service program. Examples of acceptable service opportunities include volunteering with the Special Olympics, serving through a parish or church ministry, assisting at a food pantry, working with shelters, or serving with organizations that directly support those in need.

Below are two possible service opportunities for those interested:

Service Opportunity #1: The Catholic Community of South Baltimore is offering service to those interested in helping with yard work and maintenance at their cemetery. Hours are flexible. Point of Contact: Brian Glander; brian.glander@archbalt.org; 415-910-0614

Service Opportunity #2: Special Olympics -- see flyer below to volunteer this summer.

I would also like to thank all of the students who participated in Franciscan Youth Ministry this year. Whether you attended one event or were involved on a regular basis, thank you for helping make FYM such a vibrant part of our Curley community. It was a tremendous year filled with retreats, prayer experiences, service opportunities, pilgrimages, small groups, and countless moments of fellowship and growth in faith.

Throughout the summer, we will be highlighting students who were involved in FYM this year and sharing why the experience was meaningful to them. We will also be looking back at many of the events and experiences that made this year so memorable, while giving previews of retreats, service opportunities, pilgrimages, and other programs planned for the upcoming school year.

Quo Vadis (Latin for “Where are you going?”) is a powerful 4-day retreat for high school young men, hosted by the seminarians of the Archdiocese of Baltimore. It’s an opportunity to step away from the noise of everyday life and spend time in prayer, brotherhood, and honest conversation about your life and your future.

St. Mary’s Seminary, Baltimore

This retreat is not just about priesthood- it’s about becoming the man God is calling you to be. Whether that’s marriage, priesthood, or something else, this is a place to begin asking the deeper questions.

Damascus Summer Camp (Summit Lake, MD) Multiple weeks: June 7 – July 31, 2026

Damascus is a high-adventure Catholic summer camp that combines faith and action in a way that is honestly hard to describe—you have to experience it. Think: zip lines, paintball, water activities, daily Mass, Adoration, worship, and real encounters with Christ.

Summit Lake Camp (near Emmitsburg, MD)

This is a full-week experience designed to help you grow in confidence, brotherhood, and a living, real faith—not just something you hear about, but something you experience.

While Curley will not be sending a group to these retreat opportunities, please consider attending them as they are great experiences!

From the College Counseling Office

Attention Class of 2026 Families --

Last week ONE (1) transcript was sent out for each senior who had a school marked as ENROLLING in his SCOIR account. Final transcripts were also sent to trade programs and individual students, as needed.

If your son earned Dual Enrollment credits through the Community College of Baltimore County (CCBC), Notre Dame of Maryland University or Rochester Institute of Technology (RIT), he needs to go to Parchment and order those transcripts and have them sent directly to his college/university.

Final transcripts were uploaded to the NCAA Eligibility Center for all of our collegiate athletes.

All freshmen, sophomores and juniors should take advantage of the summer to relax and unwind. Students should also take advantage of time off from school to complete community service hours, tour colleges and universities, get an internship in a field they are passionate about, work a part time job, complete your summer reading and summer work. Be safe and have fun. We will see you in late August.
