Week of August 19-25, 2024 | |
I was at an event early in the summer when the speaker made the remark, “you know, ignorance is curable.” How true that is, and so, as students return to Curley, they will see two messages in the auditorium lobby showcase: “Ignorance is Curable” and “Success follows Effort.” With those words will be 32 quotes on learning, on achieving success, and on making the most of each situation we face. While each of us builds on the past, each school year gives students, and teachers, and perhaps families, the opportunity to set new goals, to plan on success, and to be ready to take on new challenges. We can also do this from a faith perspective, as we are on a “mission” to develop our God-given gifts, and to use them not only for ourselves but for the larger community. Please join me in offering a prayer that the 2024-2025 school year will be a true year of growth and success.

Welcome to the 2024-2025 school year! We welcome the parents of the Class of 2028. We are so very glad you have chosen Archbishop Curley High School. We welcome back the families in the Classes of 2025, 2026, and 2027, and we look forward to the continuation of your Curley experience. It is exciting to begin the new school year. The campus is alive with activity as final preparations are made for the start of the year and practices for the fall sports season are underway. We look forward to seeing all of our students for their orientation and the first day of classes.
Orientation Days are important moments for our students. Be sure to pay careful attention to the dress and grooming policy, which was emailed on July 31st and is included in this newsletter. We want to start the year well by understanding the expectations of a Curley Man.
During our orientation programs we will continue to stress the important values at the heart of a Curley education. Each student is called to be an Ideal Curley Man -- one who is mindful of the presence of God in his life and is a man of character, leadership and school spirit. These traits are at the heart of a Curley education, and I look forward to working with you and your son as together we try to achieve these goals.

The trip is open to all Curley families, Alumni, and their friends. We have reserved TWO buses this year. but please note that the buses fill up very quickly. Our New York departure time is 7:00 pm, which returns to Curley by 11:00 pm. You have the entire day to plan as you wish -- shopping, a Broadway matinee, sightseeing, whatever. The cost per person is $80, but if you reserve and pay by September 15, each seat is only $70. This cost includes your round-trip bus transportation, driver's tip, plus doughnuts & juice on the morning ride up to New York City. It is a good idea to make your reservations as soon as possible to avoid being disappointed when the buses sell out. Getting a group discount will save you at least $30-$40 per ticket. If you want tickets for the Christmas Show you MUST make your reservation by September 15. From the Campus Store
Are you interested in being more involved at Curley in the upcoming school year? The Curley Campus Store needs volunteers. For the upcoming 2024/2025 school year, there will be many opportunities to volunteer during the day, evenings and on weekends. If you are available and can commit to a full day, half day, or even a few hours, please consider reaching out. We would love to tell you more about the opportunities available.
The School Store is open daily during school hours, and is staffed by parent/family volunteers. Since our volunteers interact with students daily, ALL volunteers are required to be VIRTUS certified. You MUST complete this certification before your volunteering can begin. New Volunteers can go HERE for instructions to register in VIRTUS. Please Note -- If you have been VIRTUS trained at a previous elementary or middle school and already have an account, you will need to log in and add Archbishop Curley High School as a location.
Current/Past Volunteers are asked to log in to your VIRTUS account to ensure that your training is up-to-date. Please note that a red (x) will appear in your account if your account needs attention.
Should you have any questions or request more information regarding volunteer opportunities, please email campusstore@archbishopcurley.org We are very excited for the upcoming school year and hope to see you at the Campus Store!
