What is the school's current mask policy?
Mask wearing is optional; however, it is encouraged in order to help stop the spread of COVID-19. We also continue to strongly advise those who are unvaccinated and/or immunocompromised to wear a mask.
What will the response be for a positive COVID case within the school community?
If a member of the school community tests positive for COVID, they must contact the school administration
immediately. In the event a child or school staff member contracts COVID-19, they will need to be quarantined following guidelines from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC):
If student/staff member tests positive for COVID-19, regardless of vaccination status, he/she should:
- Stay home for 5 days.
- If he/she has no symptoms or symptoms are resolved after 5 days, he/she can return to school but must wear a mask when around others for 5 more days.
Those with a fever should continue to stay home until the fever resolves. Remember, students must be fever free without medication for at least 24 hours before returning to school.
How is the school contact tracing? What is the protocol for those who are exposed to someone who tests positive for COVID?
At this time, St. Anne-Pacelli is not contact tracing in classrooms. The only contact tracing we will continue is that of students who live with family members who test positive for COVID-19.
If the student/staff member was exposed to someone with COVID-19, and
A. Has been boosted OR
B. Completed the primary series of Pfizer or Moderna vaccine within the last 6 months OR
C. Completed the primary series of J&J vaccine within the last 2 months
- Wear a mask around others for 10 days.
- Test on day 5, if possible.
If symptoms develop, get a test and stay home.
If student/staff member was exposed to someone with COVID-19, and:
A. Completed the primary series of Pfizer or Moderna vaccine over 6 months ago and are not boosted OR
B. Completed the primary series of J&J over 2 months ago and are not boosted OR
C. Are unvaccinated
- Stay home for 5 days. After that continue to wear a mask around others for 5 additional days.
- If you can’t quarantine you must wear a mask for 10 days.

If you develop symptoms, get a test and stay home.
Someone who has recovered from COVID within the past three months and remains without COVID symptoms does not have to quarantine.
Please do not send your student to school with any symptoms of any illness. Students who arrive on campus with symptoms of illness will be sent to the office, asked to be picked up and remain home until their symptoms are gone.
