Current Justice Issues
Dear NCNW Members:

As you already know, this has been an extremely active year for advocacy! Be aware, however, that we have a large diverse membership with varying views. So let me briefly propose some steps we all might consider, in the midst of the current Supreme Court issue.

  • Stay alert and strengthen your connections with your legislators at the State and National levels.
  • Remember Mrs. Bethune’s edict, “keep a foot in the door, so when needed you can kick it wide open.”
  • Feel free to rally and speak out as an individual, but NOT UNDER THE BANNER OF NCNW.
  • Continue to fight for the rights of women, especially the poor and the voiceless.
  • Keep fighting for access to effective health care.
  • Help people in the community to understand the issues so they may act with knowledge.
  • Underscore our mission for women of African descent and their families.
  • Remember, we know all too well how many pressing issues emerging from Washington will have profound effects for African American women, so DO NOT GIVE UP!!! TOGETHER WE WILL FIND WAYS TO PREVAIL COLLECTIVELY.

Many thanks for all you do to uphold what Mrs. Bethune put in place and carried forth by our stalwart seven national presidents.

ONWARD TOGETHER!
Thelma T. Daley
