SVCC Grad Meets New People Every Day Mary Pulliam describes her job as, “The best thing in the world that has happened to me.” She is a Relationship Banker at Touchstone Bank in South Hill, VA, which gives her the opportunity to build a relationship with every person who comes through the doors. Touchstone is a community bank and is involved with many events in Mecklenburg and surrounding counties. SVCC graduated the 12th cohort of Power Line Worker Training School students, shown above, on November 21st. Dayton Ingersol, of Forest, Virginia, was the 250th student to graduate from the program. Ingersol is shown with (left to right) Assistant Instructor Conner McCready, Lead Instructor Clyde Robertson, Ingersol, Instructor Brad Wike and Instructor Mike Costley. The next PLW cohort will begin on February 17, 2020 . For more information on the Power Line Worker Training Program, call 434-292-3101.

Giving SVCC's Classified Personnel Committee collected hats, scarves, gloves, and socks to donate to Crossroads Care Facility in Farmville, VA,. .

and Receiving The Alpha Kappa Alpha Gamma Lambda Omega Chapter of Lawrenceville recently donated toiletry items and cleaning supplies to SVCC’s Feeding Student Success Food Pantry.

Students Shown Transfer Opportunities

Two groups of SVCC students, led by Mary Downing and Matt Dunn, recently had opportunities to visit Christopher Newport University and the University of Virginia. Students made professional contacts, toured the campuses, and learned about programs of study.
