June 22, 2023
Dear Friends in Christ:
Things have finally slowed down a bit here at church. Which means this will be a mercifully short update. As of yesterday, we officially entered into summer, and I hope you are able to find some downtime in the next couple months to recharge and refresh yourself. Our regular worship schedule continues as always, and we'll have a couple special things later in the summer. So let's get right to it.
On to the updates . . .

BISHOP'S LISTENING SESSION, tonight, 6:30-8:30pm
Bishop Jolly has scheduled a series of Listening Sessions throughout the Diocese over the summer, and St. Timothy's gets to host June 22nd from 6:30pm to 8:30pm.
I hope you are able to join us so that you can both listen and be heard. If you can't be at St. Tim's tonight, consider attending one of the sessions at another congregation.
If you haven't already done so, please do RSVP if you can.
The full list of dates and locations can be found HERE.

THANK YOU!
Thanks from Lost And Found to those who came over or tuned in for our experimental Contemplative Worship event last Wednesday. It went well, and I'll try to rope Michael into doing it again next time he's in town. You can find a video of the short event HERE.

GREAT GROOMING OF THE GROUNDS, June 24th
Our second gardening day is upon us. Time to clean things up and encourage the lovely flowers that will continue to bloom around our lovely building.
This Saturday, June 24th, 9am to noon, whatever chunk of time you might have to spare.
We will provide coffee, donuts, water, and many thanks. Please bring your own tools for weeding, raking, digging, and kneeling.

OUR FOOD PANTRY NEEDS HELP!
Our food pantry--which supplies even more sustenance to our neighbors in the summer months--is running low on supplies. If you're out shopping in the next couple weeks and it crosses your mind, please pick up a couple extra items and bring them to church when you can.
Items most needed are canned fish and meat, pasta and sauce, cereals and nutrition bars, soups and stews, and whatever else you think of that will keep for a bit.
Thanks for your ongoing support of those in need.

NEW SANCTUARY PIANO
Our current sanctuary piano has seen better days. It has served us well for a long time, but with multiple cracks in the soundboard and aging parts, it's time to put it out to pasture. (By which I mean, trade it in.)
We are in the process of choosing a replacement and have a few estimates to consider. Once a few of us take them for a test run, we'll know how much we have to raise to cover the cost. We already have about $5,500 in hand, thanks to donations at this month's choir concert, and one generous parishioner.
More news to come!

PRAYERS REQUESTED
When you ask for someone to be added to the prayers, they will stay on our list for four weeks unless we hear from you. We maintain a continuing prayer list for those with ongoing needs. The email list below merges both lists.
Please be sure to let us know if someone should be taken off this list so we can focus on those in need.
Please pray for the people of Ukraine & Russia, that they would be kept safe and live in peace and safety.
And please also keep these friends and parishioners in your prayers:
✥Priya Kurian ✥Chuck Tilley ✥Liz Frank ✥Mike Requa ✥Brian Dorosch ✥Bob Daane

PERIODIC PUZZLE
One thing I love is how the flowers around the church change through the seasons. The Third Street bed is a great example. Later in the summer it will look completely different from what it does right now, so you can expect other photos later in the summer. The current loveliness can be found HERE.
And, for those of you who solved the puzzle in the last newsletter, congratulations! You got it in one guess (since it went directly to the actual photo). If you want a more challenging puzzle of the photo, you can find that HERE.
As always, you can choose your background color, number of puzzle pieces, and even set it to display just the edge pieces. Plus, you get a very affirming crowd reaction once you have completed it!
Also, if you want to take a trip down puzzle memory lane, you can go back and find the whole collection on our website at this LINK.

Given that we are currently in the time span between Juneteenth and July 4th, I want to leave you with a couple collects appropriate to those two days . . .
FOR JUNETEENTH
Almighty God, you rescued your people from slavery in Egypt, and throughout the ages you have never failed to hear the cries of the captives; We remember before you our sisters and brothers in Galveston, Texas who on this day received the glad tidings of their emancipation; Forgive us for the many grave sins that delayed that liberating word; Anoint us with your Spirit to bring good news to the poor, to proclaim release to the captives and recovery of sight to the blind, to let the oppressed go free, and to proclaim the year of your favor; through Jesus Christ our Lord, who lives and reigns with you, in the unity of the Holy Spirit, one God, for ever and ever. Amen.
FOR JULY FOURTH
Lord God Almighty, you have made all the peoples of the
earth for your glory, to serve you in freedom and in peace:
Give to the people of our country a zeal for justice and the
strength of forbearance, that we may use our liberty in
accordance with your gracious will; through Jesus Christ our
Lord, who lives and reigns with you and the Holy Spirit, one
God, for ever and ever. Amen.
Faithfully,
Fr. George
