November 10, 2022

Dear Friends in Christ:

Somehow, we are already well into November, with children now thinking about which visions of sugarplums might dance in their heads next month. As we move closer to the end of the year, the schedule becomes much more compressed, both at church and in our time outside of church. As you plan your schedule for the coming weeks, please be sure to include some of the highlights you'll see listed below. So many opportunities: so little time!

On to the updates . . .

CHRISTMAS CHOIR "NOTE CRUNCH"

This Saturday, November 12th, our choir will meet from 10am to 2pm to learn and rehearse the music for our stunning Christmas Eve service, along with the other music to carry us through Epiphany. If you'd like to join the choir for the holiday season (with no commitment beyond that), please come to this rehearsal. We will have a delicious lunch of soup and salad, and make glorious music together.

Interested? Just show up at 10am on Saturday!

CHILDREN'S SUNDAY, November 13th

This Sunday, we will mark our November Children's Sunday at the 10am service. Kids will head downstairs for the first part of the service to make Advent wreaths, and then join us in the sanctuary for Communion with their families. Jesus said, "Let the little children come to me." So who are we to stand in the way, right?

ANNUAL NOVEMBER BLANKET DRIVE

As we do each year, we're collecting blankets through the month of November to distribute to our neighbors during the cold winter months. If you'd like to pitch in, please add a blanket or two to your cart next time you see some in the store. We'll pile them up by the steps, and then bless them on November 27th before passing them along to the Salvation Army. (You can read last year's piece about our annual collection in the Repository HERE.)

MORE THAN ENOUGH

We are nearing the end of our 2023 Stewardship Campaign. Which means we're also getting to the place where Vestry members have to make the dreaded phone calls to those who have not yet returned their cards.

We ask that you prayerfully consider supporting St. Timothy's in the coming year, and return a pledge card to show that support, no matter the amount. Together, we can accomplish more than we could ask or imagine, with more than enough for the future. You can also make a pledge securely on our website at this LINK.

By returning a pledge card soon, you can help relieve the anxiety of our Vestry as they stare at their phones, hoping not to have to call you about this.

THANKSGIVING OUTREACH

Our newest Episcopalian, Danielle Shaffer, has agreed to take on our year-end outreach program, which Ann Higgins has so capably run for so many years. We're still working out specifics of what this will entail and what we might want to start collecting to help. More details to follow, but thanks to Danielle and to Ann for reaching out to our neighbors with this important ministry.

ADVENT RECITAL SERIES

We're thrilled to announce the return of our Advent Recital Series. The recitals will begin at 12pm, and our Wednesday services will start at 12:30pm for the four Wednesdays of Advent. We hope to also live stream these concerts online. This year's talented musicians are . . .

November 30: Organist Chad Pittman

December 7: Organist Loren Veigel

December 14: Tenor Michael Lewis

December 21: Organist Levi Muriuki

Recitals start at noon, with worship to follow.

MO BECOMES A PRIEST!

On Thursday, December 15th, our Seminarian, who became a Deacon, will become a Priest! You're all invited to this festive and exciting event at 7pm, St. James Church, Boardman OH. If we plan well enough in advance, we can probably get some car pools together. Mark your calendars, and plan to attend if you can.

PRAYERS REQUESTED

When you ask for someone to be added to the prayers, they will stay on our list for four weeks unless we hear from you. We will maintain a continuing prayer list for those with ongoing needs. The email list below merges both lists.

Please be sure to let us know if someone should be taken off this list so we can focus on those in need.

Please pray for the people of Ukraine & Russia, that they would be kept safe and live in peace and safety.

And please also keep these friends and parishioners in your prayers:

Be sure to send good wishes and thoughts to all who celebrate in the coming weeks!

GREENING THE CHURCH, November 26th

The last Saturday of the month, we will gather the willing to decorate our sanctuary in advance of the Candlelight Walk and the Advent season. We'll do as much as we can with the help that we have. (More help = more beauty + fun.)

Join us from 9am to noon, or any amount of time you can spare that morning. We'll give you donuts and coffee and a lot of thank yous!

PERIODIC PUZZLE

Our church gardens are the gift that just keeps on giving. Here's a lovely fall photo for you to piece together. You can find the puzzle by clicking HERE.

As always, you can choose your background color, number of puzzle pieces, and even set it to display just the edge pieces. Plus, you get a very affirming crowd reaction once you have completed it!

Also, if you want to take a trip down puzzle memory lane, you can go back and find the whole collection on our website at this LINK.

As you'll see on Sunday, the sanctuary floor is now completely in place. As of this writing, there are still a few things to be done (thresholds, baseboards, etc). We have contracted with Guist painting to begin work on the walls as soon as they can get us on their schedule, and we should have the space in beautiful condition for our Christmas celebrations.

It's taken a long time to get to this point, and there is much more yet to do. But we have one of the most beautiful church buildings in Ohio, and we will pass along this treasure to generations yet unborn. Thank you for your support and your patience. I leave you with this collect . . .

Almighty God, whose loving hand hath given us all that we

possess: Grant us grace that we may honor thee with our

substance, and, remembering the account which we must one

day give, may be faithful stewards of thy bounty, through

Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen. BCP pg. 827

Faithfully,

Fr. George
