SOME BUILDING UPDATES
We started our capital campaign around five years ago and have slowly made some significant improvements to our building and infrastructure. And now, there is a lot happening all at once.
As I've mentioned before, the plaster repair work is done. Starting this Monday (October 3), the folks from K Carpet will begin installing the new floor in the sanctuary.
That same day, a new-to-us baby grand piano will arrive in the sanctuary, courtesy of a friend of Jay Spencer.
The next day, October 4th, the folks from GMC will be here to replace the HVAC system in the offices, choir room, and bathrooms.
We have contracted with Guist painters to begin painting the sanctuary sometime in November.
I don't expect any of this activity to impact our worship services, but I am developing alternate plans in the unlikely event that they do.
Exciting days ahead!

SPOOKY SEASON SPECIAL, October 29th
Jay Spencer has reserved the balcony for another St. Tim's outing to the Canton Palace Theater. Join us October 29th for the 100th anniversary of "Nosferatu," which Jay claims is a movie about vampires and Episcopalians. The movie begins at 7:30pm, but the doors for us will open at 6pm so we can share food and drinks and conversation up in the balcony. At some point, Jay will sneak away to rise up out of the floor (like a vampire and an Episcopalian) and serenade us all from the Mighty Kilgen Organ.
If you come at 6pm for the socializing and refreshments, entry is free! If you're late, you'll probably have to pay ten bucks. (This is sometimes called, "hospitality by extortion.")

MINISTRY FAIRE CONTINUES
Among the things that slipped off the radar during the height of COVID was our annual Ministry Faire. This is an opportunity to learn more about the various ministry opportunities at St. Timothy's, and a chance for you to find ways you might want to serve. There will be signup sheets and brief descriptions of our ministries of Worship, Hospitality, and Outreach, which make us WHO we are.

ECW RUMMAGE AND BAKE SALE
The ECW Rummage & Bake Sale will be held next week, October 7th and 8th. Please bring any items (no clothing, please) that you'd like to contribute, and place them behind the bulletin board in the parish hall. Also, starting the day before the sale (Oct. 6th), you can start bringing any cookies, brownies, etc. that you'd like to contribute for the bake sale. They ask that you please fill out one of these FORMS if you're intending to bring baked goods. You can also find those forms on the table in the parish hall. You can also call the church office 330.833-3183 and we can fill one out for you.

SOCKTOBERFEST RETURNS!
Thanks to Aaron Litten, we will once again be collecting socks and undergarments for the Jaycees to distribute locally to those in need. Starting this Sunday, and continuing though the month of October, you can help make Socktoberfest a success by bringing new socks and undergarments and placing them in the bin in the parish hall.
This will be good practice for our annual November Blanket Drive!

FALL GARDEN CLEANUP
On October 29th, from 10am to 12pm, we will have our fall garden cleanup, where we put the beds to bed and put the leaves to compost. More details will follow, but please mark your calendars. (You can rest your bones later that day at the Spooky Season Special mentioned above.)

PRAYERS REQUESTED
When you ask for someone to be added to the prayers, they will stay on our list for four weeks unless we hear from you. We will maintain a continuing prayer list for those with ongoing needs. The email list below merges both lists.
Please be sure to let us know if someone should be taken off this list so we can focus on those in need.
Please offer prayers and good thoughts for those impacted by Hurricane Ian: for those already affected, and those still in its path.
Please pray for the people of Ukraine & Russia, that they would be kept safe and live in peace and safety.
And please also keep these friends and parishioners in your prayers:

PERIODIC PUZZLE
As you know from tonight's Evensong service, today is the Feast of St. Michael and All Angels (aka: Michaelmas). I took this photo at the Third Street bed of some flowers that have just come into fullness. They're called--get this--Michaelmas Daisies. 🤔
You can find the puzzle by clicking HERE.
As always, you can choose your background color, number of puzzle pieces, and even set it to display just the edge pieces. Plus, you get a very affirming crowd reaction once you have completed it!
Also, if you want to take a trip down puzzle memory lane, you can go back and find the whole collection on our website at this LINK.

So here's a fun thing. A seminary classmate of mine, the Rev. David Sibley is a priest in Walla Walla, Washington, and is also three nights in on a wining streak on Jeopardy. You can watch him go for four wins this evening, wherever it is you watch your Jeopardy. I must say, it's been really fun to watch his progress, and to see so many Episcopalians rally around one of our own.
However, what I love most about this is Fr. David's relentless commitment to living out his faith, and using his megaphone of "temporary fame" to further the gospel. I leave you with a few screenshots of his recent twitter threads.
| |
And, a second thread . . . | |
One day, I hope to be as solid a witness as Fr. David to God's unconditional love and unending generosity.
Faithfully,
Fr.George
