Dear Friends in Christ:

As we continue through the Great Fifty Days of Easter, the world around us is giving us echoes and reminders of the Resurrection. The most obvious example, of course, is seen in the flowers and deciduous trees adding color and life to our Ohio landscape. Spring has sprung, and continues springing, and the church gardens are slowly coming back to life, reminding us of the resurrection message of hope and rebirth.

BISHOP ORDINATION AND CONSECRATION, April 29th

The Rev. Anne B. Jolly will be ordained and consecrated Bishop of Ohio this Saturday, April 29th, at 11am in Cleveland. St. Timothy's will be well represented at the event, with Choirmaster Andrew Bolden serving as Litanist, Danielle Shaffer serving as Verger, Melissa Allison serving as banner bearer, Fr. George serving as Chalice Bearer, and our own Bishop's Chair serving as . . . well, chair. Special thanks to Jon Silvis for taking that chair north, and to Ellin Schroeder and Rita Haines for making it look its best.

For those who signed up to ride the Ordination Express, the bus leaves our parking lot at 8:30am and will return after the festivities have concluded. (If you haven't made payment for that yet, please see me to discuss.) There will be a livestream of the service available HERE, and also on the Diocesan Facebook page.

This promises to be an historic and lovely event, and I hope you can make plans to join us. More information can be found HERE.

CORONATION WATCH PARTY, May 6th

We are planning a watch party for the Coronation of King Charles III, on May 6th. The festivities begin at 11am in England, so we will open the doors at 6am, which is right around start time.

We will have a livestream of the goings on, and will offer a right proper Full English Breakfast. We'll have activities for the kids, informational displays, tours of the church building, and more. Tell your friends and put it on your calendar. (And set your alarm!)

BLESSING OF THE BIKES, May 7th

Join us on Sunday, May 7th at 1pm for this very brief service. We gather at Ernie's Bike Shop and Trailhead Canoe Livery with whatever kind of bike you'd like to have blessed. Open to the public and obviously free.

A spirited ride is sure to follow!

PHOTOS TAKEN, May 9th &10th

If you haven't signed up yet to be included in our new photo directory, please do that right away. There's a table in the parish hall to reserve photo appointments for May 9 and 10, from 2pm to 8:30pm.

You can sign up in person, or you can call the church office at 330.833-3183 and we can sign you up for an open slot.

Please also be sure to check your contact information on the printout on the table, and make any corrections as necessary.

MASSILLON COMMUNITY GARDEN, May 13th

The Massillon City Health Department is sponsoring a community garden on the west side of town, with a planting day on May 13th at 9am. The gardens are located at Main St. and 17th SW in Massillon. The Health Department will provide a variety of vegetables for planting, with water supplied by Aqua. They have raised and elevated beds and provide everything needed to grow fresh vegetables.

Up to two beds will be reserved for for St. Timothy's if there is interest, with the aim that the vegetables we grow will be given away to those who utilize our food pantry.

See Nancy Alvarez for more information.

ASCENSION EVENSONG, May 18th

We will host an Ascension Evensong service on Thursday, May 18th, at 7:30pm.

Come and join us for this brief but lovely time of worship, as we ponder the mystery of the Ascension of our Lord. (Also likely to be streamed online.)

TULIP BREAK . . .

GREAT GROOMING OF THE GROUNDS, May 20th

We have scheduled two spring gardening days to clean things up and encourage the lovely flowers that will continue to bloom around our lovely building.

Saturday, May 20th, and Saturday, June 24th, starting at 9am each day.

On both days, we will provide coffee, donuts, water, and many thanks. Please bring your own tools for weeding, raking, digging, and mulching.

IMPACT MASSILLON, JUNE 3rd

Impact Massillon is an amazing event, held the first Saturday in June, where churches, civic organizations, local businesses, and the city administration team up to repair and beautify a string of houses on a particular street in town. This year we have focused on State Avenue, between Erie and 4th Street.

St. Timothy's has been assigned two houses, which will mainly involve powerwashing. However, I agreed that we will also do some tuck-pointing on a brick foundation. If you know how to do that, or know someone who does, please let me or Danielle Shaffer know. (Otherwise, someone's going to have to watch a bunch of youtube videos.)

Also, if you're interested in participating, we need to get everyone registered before May 8th, along with your T shirt size--shirts cost $15 each. There will be a sign up sheet in the parish hall, or you can call the church office at 330.833-3183.

PRAYERS REQUESTED

When you ask for someone to be added to the prayers, they will stay on our list for four weeks unless we hear from you. We maintain a continuing prayer list for those with ongoing needs. The email list below merges both lists.

Please be sure to let us know if someone should be taken off this list so we can focus on those in need.

Please pray for the people of Ukraine & Russia, that they would be kept safe and live in peace and safety.

And please also keep these friends and parishioners in your prayers:

PERIODIC PUZZLE

Given our current Excitement of the Episcopate, it seems a fitting time to offer you a puzzle featuring our Bishop's chair. This photo was taken last March, when Bishop Hollingsworth joined us for his final visitation at St. Timothy's. You can find the puzzle HERE.

As always, you can choose your background color, number of puzzle pieces, and even set it to display just the edge pieces. Plus, you get a very affirming crowd reaction once you have completed it!

Also, if you want to take a trip down puzzle memory lane, you can go back and find the whole collection on our website at this LINK.

A couple days after Easter, I flew back to Romania to visit the Life For Ukraine centers to see how things were going, and what is needed going forward. LFU continues to house and support about 30 residents in the two centers, which meant we had enough space to make some improvements to the living conditions. (I spent two full days doing nothing but power washing walls and floors, so now I'm kind of an expert . . . in Romania, at least.)

Because of changes in Romanian subsidies for Ukrainian refugees, we're expecting more folks to be showing up in need of housing and support. In fact, the day we flew home, 14 more refugees showed up needing a place to live. Moreover, with recent increases in horribly cruel missile strikes across Ukraine's cities, we're expecting to be overwhelmed with refugees before long.

None of this is easy, and there are no simple answers. But people need help, and through Life For Ukraine, we're able to provide some help to those with nowhere to turn. I want to thank those who've offered prayers and financial support for this important ministry.

Please pray for peace. 🌻 🙏

Faithfully,

Fr. George
