Dear Friends in Christ:
As everyone in County Stark knows, next Saturday is the annual Rivalry Game between Massillon and McKinley, held this year in the world's only remaining Paul Brown Stadium. Since the time of Fr. Kenneth Gass in the 1950s, we have held a prayer service for the team at St. Timothy's Church the morning of the big game. We will continue this tradition on Saturday, October 22nd at 9am. I ask your prayers for a fair and safe game, and may the best team with a Tiger mascot win!

ECW RUMMAGE RESULTS
Thanks to everyone who spent so much time bringing order out of chaos in this year's Rummage and Bake Sale. They raised over $1,000, and donated quite a few leftovers to the ICAN organization, which helps people in transitional housing. There's still quite a bit they've boxed up in the corner of the parish hall, but that will also be donated to organizations in the weeks ahead. (Don't worry: it will all be gone eventually.)

ALL SOULS MASS
On November 2nd, at 7pm, we will once again offer an All Souls Day Mass. We will remember parishioners we've lost in the last year, along with any others you would like to remember. You can add names by calling the church office, or filling out the form at this LINK, under the Worship tab at our website.

MEET YOUR NEXT BISHOP
The nearest Meet & Greet to us is at St. Paul's, Akron, October 24, from 6-8pm. This event will also be live-streamed. I encourage you to attend or tune in to get a chance to hear from these fine folks, one of whom will be our next Bishop! And just so you know, all three of them own dogs, so that's a very good sign I should think.
You can find out more about the candidates, including recently added video introductions by clicking HERE.

SPOOKY SEASON SPECIAL, October 29th
Jay Spencer has reserved the balcony for another St. Tim's outing to the Canton Palace Theater. Join us October 29th for the 100th anniversary of "Nosferatu," which Jay claims is a movie about vampires and Episcopalians. The movie begins at 7:30pm, but the doors for us will open at 6pm so we can share food and drinks and conversation up in the balcony. At some point, Jay will sneak away to rise up out of the floor (like a vampire and an Episcopalian) and serenade us all from the Mighty Kilgen Organ.
If you come at 6pm for the socializing and refreshments, entry is free! If you show up just for the movie, you'll probably have to pay ten bucks. (This is sometimes called, "hospitality by extortion.")

SOCKTOBERFEST RETURNS!
Thanks to Aaron Litten, we are once again collecting socks and undergarments for the Jaycees to distribute locally to those in need. Starting this Sunday, and continuing though the month of October, you can help make Socktoberfest a success by bringing new socks and undergarments and placing them in the bin in the parish hall.
This will be good practice for our annual November Blanket Drive!

FALL GARDEN CLEANUP
On October 29th, from 10am to 12pm, we will have our fall garden cleanup, where we put the beds to bed and put the leaves to compost. Please join us if you are able. (You can rest your bones later that day at the Spooky Season Special mentioned above.)

ADVENT RECITAL SERIES
We're thrilled to announce the return of our Advent Recital Series. Beginning Wednesday, November 30th, we will have a short recital starting at 11:30am, prior to our mid-week Communion service. The schedule is not yet finalized, but we look forward to some lovely music from local musicians. These concerts are free and open to the public.

FLOOR UPDATE
Getting the new wood floor laid down is taking longer than they estimated. K Carpet is now telling us they should be done before this Sunday . . . though, honestly, I have my doubts. And, as a word of longer-term patience, the new hardwood should more closely match the current wood under the pews, eventually. Apparently, foot traffic and UV rays and the mystical goblins of floors take time to work things out. The conventional "floor-ist" wisdom is that in six months things will look more uniform. (Personally, I like the contrast as it is now, and will miss it as it fades.)

When you ask for someone to be added to the prayers, they will stay on our list for four weeks unless we hear from you. We will maintain a continuing prayer list for those with ongoing needs. The email list below merges both lists.
Please be sure to let us know if someone should be taken off this list so we can focus on those in need.
Please pray for the people of Ukraine & Russia, that they would be kept safe and live in peace and safety.

MORE THAN ENOUGH
Starting this week, we officially kicked off our 2023 Stewardship Campaign with the theme "More Than Enough." Thematically, we take our cue from Jesus' feeding the 5,000, where even after everyone has had their fill, the disciples still collect 12 leftover baskets.
In the presence of Jesus, everything comes into its full potential, and becomes what it was meant to be. And that includes you and me.
We ask that you prayerfully consider supporting St. Timothy's in the coming year, and return a pledge card to show that support, no matter the amount. Together, we can accomplish more than we could ask or imagine, with more than enough for the future.

PERIODIC PUZZLE
Oh it's fall alright. And we've got the puzzle to prove it!
You can find said puzzle by clicking HERE.
As always, you can choose your background color, number of puzzle pieces, and even set it to display just the edge pieces. Plus, you get a very affirming crowd reaction once you have completed it!
Also, if you want to take a trip down puzzle memory lane, you can go back and find the whole collection on our website at this LINK.

On Sunday we had a lovely Blessing of the Animals on the west lawn of the church grounds. Lots of dogs, one scaredy cat, and--thanks to Tyler and Abby--a talkative goat, and an adorable pony.
This annual event at St. Tim's is wildly different every year. Sometimes we have multiple horses and exotic creatures, and other years it's primarily folks bringing their best friends and companions to be blessed to be a blessing.
But what I love about this event--beyond the delightful spectacle of it--is the love and concern I see in the eyes of the people who bring these creatures to be blessed. Because, in a way, it's stressful for everyone. Wanting their furry loved ones to be on their best behavior, and fearing they won't be.
And yet, they all get their blessings, one after another. All of them a delight to behold, a companion to be treasured, and a gift from our loving God. In short, it is a blessing to bless them.
Faithfully,
Fr. George
