Continue to Watch for Fall Armyworms
Although we are likely at the end of the season for Fall Armyworms it would be a good idea to continue to watch for them in your turf. If you are planning to over seed or put down new sod then it would be a good idea to apply Acelepryn to the area as soon as the new sod is installed or just prior to the seedlings germinating. This will control the new caterpillars before they get too large. Will they be back next year? We can only hope not as this pest caught us off guard this year with the first emergence of them in a lot of areas of the Southeast and into places as far North as Washington DC and parts of Ohio; as well as attacking rice fields in Arkansas.
