Last Monday, my first day as your Pastor, I went into the sanctuary to pray. In the silence of the moment, I was reminded of the great legacy that we have been entrusted to carry forward. Nearly five decades ago, a quietly courageous group of women and men had a most improbable idea. They would establish a United Methodist Church. Inspired by the Holy Spirit, they succeeded. From an improbable idea, a vibrant faith community was formed. A tiny office in a strip mall gave way to a beautiful Church. Symbolic of how God works through human hands, Church members laid stones under the chancel. Decades have passed since the days of home meetings, services in a grade school gym, and an office in a strip mall. Yet, some things have never changed. Now, the pen that will write the next story of the Church of Four Seasons United Methodist has been placed in each of our hands. As we begin this journey, let us never forget our heritage and all the people over the years who have kept the dream alive. This community has many stories yet to tell as we witness the Good News of Jesus Christ. May our heritage be our strength, and may our future capture the possibilities that await us as a missional community of faith.

As I begin my duties as Pastor, I offer to Pastor Cathy and to Hannah my deepest appreciation for the ways in which they have tirelessly witnessed the call that God has placed on their hearts. During the challenge of COVID-19, their commitment to sharing the Gospel through faithful leadership, compassionate ministry, and discipleship have left an indelible mark on this community of faith. Please join me in praying for Pastor Cathy and Hannah and their families as they embark upon new journeys of faith, service, and love. May their ministries be fruitful, and may they be continually nourished by God’s abundant grace.
