A Message from Pastor Tom…

Pastors love to exhort the faithful to have hearts of gratitude. Unfortunately, we rarely explain what that really implies for followers of Jesus Christ. A grateful heart has little to do with personal success or accomplishment. For the Christian, gratitude is not simply a passing emotion or transient good feeling. It is a profound awakening to the wonder of God’s creation and the Good News of Jesus Christ. In fact, gratitude is the beginning of all true prayer and all authentic discipleship. As one enters God’s presence with gratitude, improbable dreams become life-giving ministries; the storms of life are stilled, and God’s call on our hearts becomes crystal clear.

I am calling you to join me during our upcoming FREE Spiritual Disciplines retreats on Saturday, September 25. During the retreats, participants will gain an understanding of what Spiritual Disciplines are; experience hands-on practices; practically apply the practices to everyday living; be encouraged and equipped to start/revitalize Spiritual Discipline groups in their local congregations; connect with others that practice Spiritual Disciplines; and reconnect with United Methodists from across the District. She intends to leverage the power of this platform even more in the coming months, so it is vital that everyone can be connected to the flow of information through Facebook. Community Garden Update

The Monday Produce Giveaway is taking on a new look! There is now a new ministry at church that will deliver the freshly picked produce to local food pantries. On Sunday, after service, grab a bag and go to the garden. The tomatoes, cucumbers, and lettuce can be picked. A huge thank you to Pat, her family, and to all those who continue to help pick the produce.

Communication Update

Beginning in September, we will occasionally send convenient text message reminders and alerts to our membership. To opt-out of those messages at any time, reply with STOP, and you will be removed from all messaging. Your text messages will be from 87447, the number assigned to our church.

Winfield Township Food Pantry and Hebron Country Pantry need the following items: Hamburger Helper, gravy mix, canned tomato and cream of chicken soup, canned ravioli (a kid favorite), boxed macaroni and cheese, spaghetti pasta, and bathroom tissue. Your donations will help meet the needs of those in need in our community.
